About the Role 

We have an outstanding opportunity to join our dedicated team at our Caol Ila Visitor Center as a Brand Home Lead Guide, due to open this Summer.

As a Brand Home Lead Guide, you’ll be vital to the day-to-day management of the Brand Home, organising tours and allocating them to your team. You’ll provide vital support to the Management team with all operational activities relating to the experiential, bar and retail offerings.

Our Brand Homes showcase to the public who we are and what we do. You’ll be responsible for driving the performance of the Brand Home and ensure that the team deliver extraordinary standards of customer service and outstanding and memorable visitor experiences.

You’ll provide daily support and supervision of the Brand Home Guides and agency staff, including scheduling, monitoring and recording of working hours, supporting new and ongoing training to the team as well as ensuring ongoing personal development and the reporting of team performance and targets.

Our retail area holds our impressive range of Scotch and you’ll play a key role in supporting the Management team with retail strategy and visual merchandising management. You’ll also help with the planning and the implementation of special events throughout the year. Not only will you support the Regional Brand Home Manager in event strategy, but you will be vital in building community engagement and the delivery of the Brand Home sustainability ambition.

Please note that roles are available on a full-time/part-time and permanent/6 month fixed-term contract basis and are comprised of annualised hours. This means that during peak tourist season you may work full-time hours (circa 38 hours per week) and accordingly will work fewer hours throughout the rest of the year e.g. November to March. Annual salary is paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.

About the Role

You will lead the day-to-day management of the full Brand Home operations which include; experience, retail, F&B and ensuring compliance. The Assistant Compliance Manager is an integral role responsible for ensuring all Brand Home activities operate in a safe and compliant manner. You will be responsible for embedding safe systems of work and will lead the Brand Home compliance agenda with support from the central functions and the Regional Brand Home Manager. You will be the main onsite point of contact between the Distillery operations team and Brand Home teams, leading these relationships to build a one team culture and an effective working relationship.

As a member of the management team, you will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and encouraging Brand Home Lead Guide and Guides and supporting with crafting focused development plans for the team.

The role holder will assist the Regional Brand Home Manager with all safety and compliance functions, facilities management, hosting external and internal auditors, contractor management, run risk agenda, liaise with Distillery operations team, attend site-based compliance meeting, handling training records, and overall support the Malt Brand Home operation.

This role will require weekend and evening work, with opening and closing responsibilities.

About You

This is the perfect position for someone with experience in a compliance function within hospitality, food & beverage, retail, spirits/wine and/or a relevant industry. This role will have operational complexity and will require advocacy skills, with the ability to think analytically, independently, and strategically. Lindores Abbey Distillery guides are very special because they not only have a passion for whisky, it’s production and maturation, they also have a passion for the history and culture that surrounds them in this quiet corner of Fife. The distillery is built opposite the beautiful ruins of Lindores Abbey and the story of the monks and their contribution to both the Scotch whisky industry and the local area form an integral part of every distillery tour.

As our story spreads around the world, we need some additional passionate souls to join our wonderful team.

Whilst the focus is primarily on guided tours and tastings, there is scope for additional hours if required working within our lively front of house team.

Lindores Abbey Distillery has a beautiful five star brand home where tours are hosted on a daily basis. The home also welcomes guests for refreshments, private events, dinners, tastings, launches, weddings and apothecary experiences, making it a fun and vital place to work.

Full training will be provided although a love of whisky and history would be a bonus. We also offer a good rate of pay, full uniform and staff discount.

JOB PURPOSE
To maximise visitor enjoyment by providing an efficient and accurate service, and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the property.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Housekeeper is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the well-being and care of the holiday accommodation and visitor facilities at Craigievar (as per the Trust’s Housekeeping Procedures Manual), including the following:

• Maintain stock-levels of housekeeping consumables and janitorial supplies.
• Routinely clean and look after the holiday accommodation and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing of surfaces and fittings such as furniture, ornaments, panelling, stairs, and doors
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows
o cleaning of lavatories, sinks, etc
o changing of bed linen and towels, and making of beds
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o replenishing of welcome/hospitality trays, and consumables
o cleaning and providing clean laundry for each occupancy
o disposal of general household waste

• To be first point of contact in case of queries or questions from clients regarding the holiday property and to provide additional service or help when requested.
• Assist with the administration of any repair works.
• Monitor the condition of furniture – reporting any loss or damage to the Visitor Services Manager
• Ensure COVID 19 Guidelines and Safe Systems of Work is implemented effectively within function and with external contractors.
• Undertake any administration required in support of housekeeping, including (but not limited to): planning regimes for routine and in-depth cleaning; stock control and ordering of recommended cleaning consumables/janitorial supplies; recording work undertaken.
• Deliver excellent customer care to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g. efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, and considered use of transport.
• In accordance with the property’s procedures, share in the common responsibility for the safe evacuation or management of colleagues and visitors in the event of a fire or security alert or alarm. This includes weekly fire alarm checks whilst cleaning and keeping a record of the checks.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide all-round assistance in the art gallery and craft shop at Souter Johnnie’s Gallery, Kirkoswald. The Supervisor will be involved in arranging new exhibitions, liaising with artists and buyers and record-keeping. They will make sure that exhibits are well coordinated and will work with artists in planning and organization of exhibitions and events. The Supervisor will be the sole member of staff on site and, as such, will also provide excellent customer service in the property. They will also be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of local volunteers. The Supervisor is the face of the gallery and will interact effectively with visitors, artists and suppliers, and management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• The Supervisor is responsible for a wide variety of duties in connection with the presentation, operation, cleanliness and maintenance of the property.
• Maintain the highest standards of customer and visitor service ensuring all visitors enjoy their visit to the Gallery and will recommend it to others. They will work on the execution of upcoming exhibitions, and to provide gallery reception during regular business hours. Act as an installation coordinator for the set-up and hanging of exhibitions. Monitor and keep track of supplies and the supply budget. Manage day-to-day operations.
• Responsible for maintain retail and gallery stock, processing sales and replenishment in conjunction with the retail team at RBBM.
• Light cleaning duties will also be the responsibility of the GS.
• Ensuring the security of the property and its contents, keeping the building clean and functional, following best-practice at all times, and maintaining its 3 star VisitScotland, and Bronze Green Tourism award, rating.
• Recruitment, training and management of volunteers who will help in the running of the property and events.
• Promoting and encouraging visitors to complete visitor surveys at the property or gathering contact details for survey at a later date.

Specific duties include:
• Organise exhibitions of artworks at the property to ensure there is an interesting and engaging programme throughout the season. Provide appropriate display / storage, competent object handling, liaise with artists and suppliers and comprehensive record keeping.
• Effective promotion of the exhibitions to drive footfall and achieve sales targets
• Delivering high standards of customer service in a gallery setting, handling customer enquiries online, on the telephone and face to face
• Ensure high standards of presentation at the property through housekeeping (cleaning floors, toilets and serving areas); general tidying of the grounds and light gardening duties (although main gardening work will fall to RBBM gardening team)
• General management of the gallery including opening, closing and alarm setting; cash-handling and banking;
• Promoting the benefits of NTS membership to achieve sales targets at the property
• Recruitment and training of local volunteers to assist in day-to-day operations and events
The current duties of this job do not require a criminal records (Disclosure Scotland) check to be carried out.

JOB PURPOSE
As a front-line member of the Abertarff team your job is give an amazing welcome and tell the stories of this central site. You will be delivering guided city tours, small events, working in a small tea house, selling membership, and providing tourist information to visitors

This role is key in engaging our visitors in the story of The National Trust for Scotland and the wider visitor experience; your role is to make a visit to a tiny house a great part of their day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

This role will assist the Engagement team to deliver high quality visitor experience at Abertarff House (including but not limited to):

• Provide excellent customer service and process purchases in a friendly, efficient, Knowledgeable manner.
• Providing information about the site, its history, membership, offers and merchandise.
• Be responsible and proactive. Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed including record keeping and reporting figures, cleaning, preparation, and basic administration as required.
• To provide consistently excellent customer service when dealing with customers according to the Disability Discrimination Act.
• To adhere to all financial procedures to include till operation and banking and safeguarding of monies: to implement amendments to standard procedure as instructions dictate.
• Be able to take responsibility for your own development and learning.

• To work across sites when necessary, supporting the wider Culloden cluster
• Adhering to the property’s quality standards including but not limited to the wearing of uniform and relevant PPE.

• Ensuring health and welfare of property staff, volunteers, and visitors by adhering to the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines. This includes working within the property’s “Safe System of Work” (the system for managing Health & Safety).
• Ensuring Food hygiene, and catering health and safety standards are strictly followed.

This role is one for which the duties, responsibilities or accountabilities of the role require you to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, administered by Disclosure Scotland. This role involves regulated work with children / vulnerable adults.

Scottish Dolphin Centre Assistant – 4 months
WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre, Spey Bay

5 days a week, regular weekend work required. 30 hours per week, working either 9:30-4:30pm or 8am – 4pm.

At Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) our vision is for a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free. We are looking for a dedicated summer Assistant to join our team at the Scottish Dolphin Centre, in Northern Scotland.

The Visitor Centre is based in a beautiful location at the mouth of the River Spey. The largest bottlenose dolphins in the world can be seen feeding regularly along with ospreys, seals and a huge variety of other wildlife.

You will provide excellent customer service and a warm welcome to visitors in the centre. You will deliver interpretation about the bottlenose dolphins, seals and other wildlife of the Moray Firth, lead tours, and undertake land-based dolphin watches at the Centre. Training for these activities will be provided. This is a seasonal role running from June to September, working 5 in 7 days and you will be expected to work weekends.

You will be supported by volunteers and the WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre team. Experience in interpretation and wildlife tourism would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.
