About the Role 

We have an outstanding opportunity to join our dedicated team at our Clynelish Visitor Center as a Brand Home Lead Guide.

As a Brand Home Lead Guide, you’ll be vital to the day-to-day management of the Brand Home, organising tours and allocating them to your team. You’ll provide vital support to the Management team with all operational activities relating to the experiential, bar and retail offerings.

Our Brand Homes showcase to the public who we are and what we do. You’ll be responsible for driving the performance of the Brand Home and ensure that the team deliver extraordinary standards of customer service and outstanding and memorable visitor experiences.

You’ll provide daily support and supervision of the Brand Home Guides and agency staff, including scheduling, monitoring and recording of working hours, supporting new and ongoing training to the team as well as ensuring ongoing personal development and the reporting of team performance and targets.

Our retail area holds our impressive range of Scotch and you’ll play a key role in supporting the Management team with retail strategy and visual merchandising management. You’ll also help with the planning and the implementation of special events throughout the year. Not only will you support the Assistant Managers in event strategy, but you will be vital in building community engagement and the delivery of the Brand Home sustainability ambition.

Please note that roles might be available on a full-time/part-time and permanent/6 month fixed-term contract basis and are comprised of annualised hours. JOB PURPOSE

To provide operational coordination and supervision of retail, admissions, membership recruitment and visitor services at Craigievar Castle in line with the Trust’s policies, priorities, performance standards and targets to contribute to the enjoyment of the property by visitors and members, and help ensure commercial, financial, and conservation objectives are achieved.

A key aspect of this role it to support the commercial performance of the retail offer at Craigievar Castle by encouraging increased turnover and maximizing visitor enjoyment by offering a high quality service based on our customer needs and expectations. This role is essential to deliver excelled performance of retail and admission sales and the profitability delivers a positive contribution to the financial sustainability of Drum Castle.

The Visitor Services Supervisor plays a pivotal role ensuring that the management objectives are achieved through excellent customer service, and, with delegated responsibility for retail, events and duty management is very often the “face” of the Trust to visitors and suppliers. As such, s/he directly influences public perceptions of the Trust and is crucial to developing and maintaining the property’s local/national reputation.

The successful candidate will be expected to work weekends

The post holder will be a key holder and expected to provide duty manager cover when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Supervising/undertaking the day-to-day operation of the Castle and environs to ensure an excellent customer/visitor experience. This includes:

o Oversight/maintenance of the visitor experience;
o Ticketing for events and groups;
o Admin, banking, Duty management,
o Membership sales (to targets), retail sales (to target) and general customer service (individuals, education visits, other groups);
o Housekeeping and security of the Property;
o Health & Safety procedures, emergency procedures, and environmental procedures;

• If delegated duty manager, responsible for day to day financial administration at the property, including cash/till reconciliation, day-end and week-end reports and reconciliation, completion of the banking processes, and reporting of working hours for payroll.

• Merchandising & Promotions Management: Ensuring all retail merchandise is clearly priced and that all retail promotions, marketing material, admission prices and licensing legislation are clearly displayed at all times and that this information is cascaded to all relevant teams.

• EPOS management: Supporting property staff to operate the EPOS system effectively and adhere to operating procedures; Analyse and interpret sales and stock data from EPOS and use to optimise income opportunities and pass onto PM to drive this through.

• Effective Retail Stock & Space Management: Manage stock availability, ensuring the property has the right stock and is managed effectively. Utilizing key data (from EPOS) to assist in the plan of the retail footprint at the property in line with the property’s visitor profile;

• Working closely with other managers across the Property to deliver a programme of visitor events, which increase visitor numbers, drive secondary spend and support overall Property targets;

• Instil a Health & Safety culture across the property, ensuring the team work within the property’s ‘Safe System of Work’ to reduce risk of incidents and accidents to volunteers, employees and visitors.

JOB PURPOSE

• Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required.
• Reporting all instances of damage and wear and tear issues promptly to your line manager.

Financial Responsibilities
• To adhere to all financial procedures to include till operation and banking and safeguarding of monies: to implement amendments to standard procedure as instructions may dictate.

Health and Safety
• To ensure site meets with Health and Safety legislation in liaison with your department manager.

There will be shop duties and upselling products will be required alongside the merchandising of our other products in the retail area.

Working across our galleries, welcome areas and ticketing positions, our Visitor Assistants will put the Visitor journey at the heart of everything that they do, creating a positive and memorable experience for all visitors and providing a tailored welcome as they arrive at the museum. Essential:

Outstanding communication skills, including excellent spoken English.

Sales experience including ability to proactively introduce additional products or services to visitors, upselling and maximising sales.

The ability to promote all business initiatives of V&A Dundee, including ticket sales, exhibitions, events, retail, gift aid and donations.

The ability to work both under front line pressure and in quieter areas of the museum whilst maintaining a positive and flexible approach, adapting quickly to new information and providing an efficient and effective service at all times.

About the Role 

We have an outstanding opportunity to join our dedicated team at our Royal Lochnagar Visitor Center as a Brand Home Lead Guide.

As a Brand Home Lead Guide, you’ll be vital to the day-to-day management of the Brand Home, organising tours and allocating them to your team. You’ll provide vital support to the Management team with all operational activities relating to the experiential, bar and retail offerings.

Our Brand Homes showcase to the public who we are and what we do. You’ll be responsible for driving the performance of the Brand Home and ensure that the team deliver extraordinary standards of customer service and outstanding and memorable visitor experiences.

You’ll provide daily support and supervision of the Brand Home Guides and agency staff, including scheduling, monitoring and recording of working hours, supporting new and ongoing training to the team as well as ensuring ongoing personal development and the reporting of team performance and targets.

Our retail area holds our impressive range of Scotch and you’ll play a key role in supporting the Management team with retail strategy and visual merchandising management. You’ll also help with the planning and the implementation of special events throughout the year. Not only will you support the Regional Brand Home Manager in event strategy, but you will be vital in building community engagement and the delivery of the Brand Home sustainability ambition.

Please note this is a FTC full-time role comprised of annualised hours. This means that during peak tourist season you may work full-time hours (circa 38 hours per week) and accordingly will work fewer hours throughout the rest of the year e.g. November to March. Annual salary is paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.

You’ll be eager to lead projects and put forward your own ideas to sustain and improve the business ensuring direct contribution to the performance of the Brand Home.

You’ll be experienced working towards targets and have the strive to achieve vital targets whilst subsequently leading the team every day to work towards these targets.

You’ll be flexible as the role requires both evening and weekend work throughout the year and this will be planned in advance. It’d be phenomenal if you had an understanding of Microsoft office or similar applications however this is not crucial

Post 1: Wed: 14:30 – 18:15 (Gallery), Thurs: 12:30 – 20:30 (Box Office), Fri: 14:30 – 18:15 (Gallery). Total of 14.5 hours.

Post 2: Sat: 12:00 – 21:15 (Cinema) & Sun: 10:45 – 14:30 (Gallery). Total of 12.5 hours.

We are also looking to add to our pool of Casual Visitor Assistants who will be offered shifts as they arise. If the shifts above do not suit you however you are still interested in being a Visitor Assistant at DCA, please state in your cover letter that you would like to be a Casual Visitor Assistant and any specific area that interests you.

Working across our Box Office, Galleries, Cinema and Retail Outlet the role of our Visitor Assistants is to ensure, through providing exceptional standards of visitor experience, that all visitors are welcomed warmly, encouraged to learn about and engage with our diverse programme of activity and have a safe and enjoyable visit to DCA.

Visitor Assistants will offer our visitors a variety of services and information to enhance their visit and process sales of cinema tickets, courses, events, memberships and items in our shop.
