The Mobility Driving Team aims to welcome and deliver a world class service to every visitor. All duties within the team involve working with people, and teamwork is crucial to our success. This role incudes both driving the car and acting as banksperson on a rotating basis and involves working outside in all weathers. When the car is not required, members of the team assist with providing general information for visitors inside Edinburgh Castle, providing information on other sites within the estate and are also able to promote other services such as the benefits of membership and explorer passes.

Purpose of the role

To maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining excellent standards of service, optimising opportunities to gain income and ensuring that the site and its’ assets are safe and secure.
Specifically, to ensure the smooth and safe operations in Admissions of large groups and individuals, making the property the best possible place to visit and work.
We are looking for talented and customer focused individuals to join our team and to help us make Arduaine Garden a 5* Visitor Attraction.
We are looking for people who have experience or a keen interest in Visitor Experience and Scotland’s Natural Heritage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times when:

• welcoming visitors to the site and processing their admission in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner;
• welcoming visitors with special needs / impairments and providing a high level of service in accordance with the Equality Act
• welcoming International visitors and aiding with specific needs.
• welcoming large groups in an efficient and warm manner
• answering visitors’ queries about the site, education facilities and the local area;
• housekeeping duties
• providing information about the site, its history, contents, offers and merchandise;
• promoting National Trust for Scotland brand to include our Membership scheme,
• events, upselling other properties and any promotional campaigns, being proactive in the selling of Membership and Gift Aid;.
• To maintain excellent standards of site and personal presentation at all times:-
• the general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing where required;
• ensuring site is ready to open and welcome visitors by the set opening time;
• wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required;
• reporting all instances of damage and wear and tear issues promptly to your line manager;
• working in harmony with other departments; housekeeping, gardening, grounds maintenance and site repair employees/contractors.

As a front-line member of the Engagement team your job is give an amazing welcome and tell the story of the Culloden Battlefield. You will be working in the gallery delivering handling workshops, delivering daily tours in the peak season, costumed presentations and facilitating school and military programmes as well as supporting in other departments.

This role is key to the visitor experience; your role is to put smiles on faces and ensure our visitors have an amazing visit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

This role will assist the Engagement team to deliver high quality visitor experience at Culloden Battlefield, and across the Culloden Cluster (including but not limited to):

• Deliver daily high quality informal and formal engagement programming
• Develop strong historical knowledge of site and wider area
• Be responsible and proactive. Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed including record keeping and reporting figures, cleaning, and basic administration as required.
• To provide consistently excellent customer service when dealing with high volumes of customers
• Cash reconciliation duties including start and end of day tasks, must have experience handling cash accurately and processing sales
• Be able to take responsibility for your own development and learning.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours and days including working weekend and Bank Holidays as appropriate.
• To work across departments when necessary, supporting the wider Culloden cluster
• Adhering to the property’s quality standards including but not limited to the wearing of uniform.
• Ensuring health and welfare of property staff, volunteers, and visitors by adhering to the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines. This includes working within the property’s “Safe System of Work” (the system for managing Health & Safety).

This role is one for which the duties, responsibilities or accountabilities of the role require you to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, administered by Disclosure Scotland. This role involves regulated work with children / vulnerable adults.

As part of the team which cares for the North Perthshire properties – which include The Hermitage, Dunkeld, The Pass of Killiecrankie, The Linn of Tummel and Craigower – a Seasonal Ranger plays a crucial role in ensuring that our conservation ambitions go hand in hand with welcoming our local community and visitors from across the globe to these well-loved places. This region welcomes more than 500,000 visitors per year with over 270,000 of those at The Hermitage alone.
You will work out in the landscape, on walking routes, in our parking areas, at popular spots for views, with some time at our sites in Dunkeld, acting as an ambassador for the National Trust for Scotland, building awareness and support for our charity.
You will share your enthusiasm for the outdoors and a passion for the countryside with the visitors who come to explore here.
You’ll leave those you meet with a desire to respect, protect and enjoy the special natural environments within North Perthshire – which include an SSI and an NSA, and species such as red squirrels, bats, crossbills and beavers.
You will work on your own and with other staff and volunteers, on a variety of practical conservation tasks to help us achieve the highest presentation and habitat management standards expected of a National Trust for Scotland site. This will include maintaining countryside structures and visitor trails on a daily basis, exercising effective communication with your colleagues, volunteers and visitors to enhance the experience of all.
You will contribute to the long-term sustainability of North Perthshire Ranger service through income generated at weddings and paid-for events, memberships and donations inspired by our work, growing our capacity through volunteers and cost-effective use of resources.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Nature Conservation
 Be an enthusiastic and effective part of the ranger service, contributing to the smooth operation and ecological enhancement of our North Perthshire properties.
 Get involved with practical conservation tasks, including woodland management, invasives removal, path maintenance and fence repairs, litter clearance and property patrols. The role is a physical one and may require walking to worksites carrying required tools.
 Seek to minimise our environmental impact through sustainable working practices and sensitive use of power, equipment, transport, and other resources.
Visitor Engagement
 Participate in a programme of estate patrols at busy times and locations, including weekends and evenings, to engage with tourists, outdoor activity enthusiasts and campers, championing a “leave no trace” culture and providing practical advice based on the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
 Welcome visitors in our car parks in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner, answering queries and providing information about the property, facilities and local area.
 Spending time in the interpretation trailer on site – currently located in the Hermitage – delivering accurate and up to date information and providing a warm welcome whilst actively upselling membership of the National Trust for Scotland.
 Contribute to the development and delivery of products that bring alive our stories, including on-site displays, self-guided trails, signage, guided walks, talks and other hands-on activities.

Working Together
 Recruit, induct and supervise volunteers’ roles to help grow our team’s capacity and assist with the leadership of group volunteering activities as required.
 Build positive relationships with our neighbours and local community, including other land managers, schools, community groups and recreational users.
 Support a strong health and safety culture, complying with the property’s “Safe System of Work”, risk management and emergency procedures, to safeguard yourself, colleagues, and the public.
Funding our Future
 Actively promote the value of Trust membership to existing and potential members.
 Seek and support ways to generate sustainable sources of income, including encouraging donations, booking events, payment of parking charges, visits to other NTS properties and awareness of our fundraising campaigns.
 Not a budget holder but expected to liaise with the Line Manager prior to incurring any expenses and be mindful of cost-effective use of Trust funds and resources.

To provide operational coordination and supervision of retail, visitor services, and events in line with the Trust’s policies, priorities, performance standards and targets to contribute to the enjoyment of the property by visitors and members, and help ensure commercial, financial, and conservation objectives are achieved.
The Visitor Services Supervisor at a Trust property plays a pivotal role ensuring that the management objectives are achieved through excellent customer service, and, with delegated responsibility for catering, retail, events, and duty management they are very often the “face” of the Trust to visitors and suppliers. As such, they directly influence public perceptions of the Trust and is crucial to developing and maintaining the property’s local/national reputation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supervising/undertaking the day-to-day operation of the Visitor Centre and environs to ensure an excellent customer/visitor experience. This includes supervision of:
• Visitor services, events and retail offer (including ordering, merchandising, sales targets);
• Line management of Visitor Services Assistants and volunteers

• Duty Management and oversight/maintenance of the exhibition space and property.
• Ticketing.
• Membership sales (to targets) and general customer service (individuals, education visits, other groups).
• Health & Safety procedures, emergency procedures, and environmental procedures.
• Deputising for the Visitor Services Manager on-site and off-site as required (including “duty management” of the wider site to include the car park and monument).
• Ensure the property social media is managed to generate interest, engagement and help drive visitors.
• Delivery of public tours and schools programme.
• Support the informal learning and community engagement / outreach activity.
• Housekeeping, maintenance and safety and security of the Property and grounds.

• Health & Safety procedures, emergency procedures, and environmental procedures.
• Liaising with contractors on projects and works on site.
• Ensuring sites are clear of debris, rubbish etc and that signage is befitting of a Trust property.
• Public engagement on site whilst carrying out duties.
• Hosting of talks and walks and exclusive groups.

2023 was a very exciting (and busy) year at Muckle Brig as we finally opened our new Port of Leith Whisky Distillery. Here we intend to make a remarkable new single malt Scotch whisky and become a major new tourism landmark in Edinburgh.

OVERVIEW

Port of Leith Whisky Distillery is Scotland’s first vertical distillery in Edinburgh’s historic whisky district of Leith. Our tour takes in 6 levels of our incredible new building with views spanning across the Firth of Forth, Leith, and back up across Edinburgh, a spectacular Quality Control Tasting Lab, 4 levels for vertical whisky production and our stunning Lexco Retail area on Level 6. We want to make this one of the most exciting whisky tours, anywhere.

We’re looking for passionate, super friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic Tour Guides with excellent multi-tasking skills to join our whisky, gin and people-loving Visitor Experience Team.

As a Port of Leith Tour Guide you will be the face of our Whisky Distillery, leading our guests through our Tour Experience, tasting, bottling and so much more.

Port of Leith Whisky Distillery is a fun, fast-paced, diverse environment to work in. Excellent communication skills are paramount to a successful day. Your skills, enthusiasm and diplomacy will shine through for our guests and your colleagues within the distillery.

Duties include:
• Welcome and orientate guests
• Dynamic storytelling in a timely fashion round our distillery providing the historical stories behind our whisky, factual information on our production process, demonstrating mini-bottling and conducting tasting sessions in our Quality Control Laboratory
• Shifts setting up, clearing, cleaning and resetting the tour route and tasting laboratory for each tour
• Ongoing cleanliness and presentability of the tour area
• Assisting with guests needs as required to ensure an excellent experience
• Assisting with Private Tours and Events on an ad hoc basis
• Weekly and monthly stock takes across Tour and Retail stock
• Being a superb ambassador for all aspects of Muckle Brig including Lind & Lime, Port of Leith Distillery and LEXCO, our export company.

• You may be required to work at other Muckle Brig locations when appropriate

Skills & Experience:

As the welcoming face or our distillery, you are a superb communicator with an enthusiastic and flexible approach with the ability to adapt to any situation. You can create a fabulous atmosphere for groups large and small. You are a competent multi-tasker who thrives on being part of a team delivering excellent visitor experience. Regular training and coaching provided.

The role of Visitor Welcomer has been created to assist with visitor opening during weekdays and occasional Saturdays. The Kirk is open to visitors between February and early December and expects about 90,000 people annually. The specific purpose of the Welcomer is to greet and orientate each visitor; invite them to look around the Kirk, museum and the shop. The Visitor Welcomer will follow a script to encourage donations and ensure consistent greeting standards are maintained. The Visitor Welcomer will report to the Operations Manager.

The Glenturret Distillery is currently recruiting for several dynamic, customer-focused Visitor Attraction Associates to join our team.

As a Tour Guide, you’ll be working within the beautiful and scenic area of our Cruachan power station. Our Cruachan power station is like no other! Set in the heart of the stunning landscape, you’ll be providing a pivotal role to our visitor centre. Educating the public, bringing the power station to life and being a standout ambassador to Drax.

About the role

As the Tour guide, you’ll be directly interfacing with the members of the public, providing them with an excellent tour experience of our Cruachan site. You’ll be working within a team that are rated within the top 20 visitor attractions in Scotland!

You’ll be the main interface with members of the public to provide them with an educational and friendly visit of our powerplant. You’ll be conducting the tour on foot and also via our tour bus, so it’s essential that that you have the required PCV licence.

You’ll be driving the bus on the tour which takes approximately 30 minutes, ensuring that the visitors are kept really happy and to essentially make sure that they have had a fantastic tour, leaving with a smile on their face and more knowledgeable about the important work we do!

When you’re not conducting the site tours, you’ll be fully involved with the visitor centre team! It’s certainly a role whereby you can roll up yourselves, ensuring the buses are kept to a clean and tidy standard, assisting in the cafeteria and gift shop even making sure that the grounds around the visitor centre are kept in tip top condition.

This is a permanent role where your hours are annualised. Typically, in the summer you will work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday and then in the winter, 32 hours a week Monday to Friday.

About you

You’ll have a fantastic personality and a real “can do attitude”. You’ll have a passion for customer service and bring with you your winning energy to support everyone at the visitor centre. You’ll have good experience of interfacing with customers as well as being a true and dedicated team player!

You’ll have to be flexible as this role is seasonal, and you will be required to uphold your role as Tour Guide with limited leave during peak times. You’ll be required to take some of your holidays when we are closed during December and January meaning you’ll get a well-deserved, and extended break over the Christmas period too.

As part of the role, you will be asked to undertake the Basic Disclosure Scotland Check prior to starting with us here at Drax, and it is vital that you have a PCV licence and a valid CPS card as this is critical to the role.

Glengoyne is located North of Glasgow on the A81 at Dumgoyne, and as a result of the remote location and required working hours, we are looking for candidates who live within a commutable distance to the Distillery and ideally have their own mode of transport. Due to the working hours and the industry we operate in, candidates must be 18 years’ old or over. In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they currently have the required documents to live and work in the UK. 

What We Will Provide You…

This is a part-time, permanent job opportunity with a highly competitive hourly rate of £12.60. In addition, we offer a generous benefits package. Our Housekeeping roles are offered on an annualised hours contract meaning you will receive a guaranteed monthly income.

For this particular opportunity, we are looking for someone to join us on a ‘2 from 7’ day basis, working the equivalent of 12 hours per week. In line with our business needs, it is anticipated the normal working pattern for this opportunity will be 6.30am to 12.30pm on a Tuesday and Thursday. We are therefore looking for candidates who are able to commit to these specific working days and times.

There will also be a requirement to work additional hours from time to time, providing cover for annual leave. As working shifts will be dependent on the needs of the business, hours may fluctuate in line with consumer demand, so we are therefore looking for individuals who can be flexible in their approach.

JOB PURPOSE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Estate Cleaner is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the well-being and care of the visited, non-visited and holiday accommodation at Crathes Castle and Estate per the Trust’s Housekeeping Procedures Manual, including the following:

• Routinely clean and look after the holiday accommodation and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing of surfaces and fittings such as furniture, ornaments, panelling, stairs, and doors
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows
o cleaning of lavatories, sinks, etc
o changing of bed linen and towels, and making of beds
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o replenishing of welcome/hospitality trays, and consumables
o cleaning and providing clean laundry for each occupancy
o disposal of general household waste

• Deliver excellent customer care to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g. efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, and considered use of transport.
• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness to all visited and non-visited areas of the property as directed by your line manager
• The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, as toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing when required etc
• Checking of domestic inventories during changeover
• Reporting losses/breakages, wear and tear and repairs required immediately to your line manager
• The current duties of this job do not require a criminal record (Disclosure Scotland) check to be carried out.
