CONTEXT

Dating back to 1675 this meticulous walled Garden a sight to behold. With almost six miles of clipped box hedging, sculptures and built heritage set within several acres of Woodlands it is one of the best loved gardens in Scotland.

Situated within Pitmedden House is a busy traditional Tearoom, popular with locals and tourists alike. With additional seating outside to be enjoyed during the warmer months.

Pitmedden Garden also boasts a Farming Museum and a traditional Farmhouse, stables and Bothy.

JOB PURPOSE

To support the conservation of Pitmedden Garden by generating income through food and beverage operations and delivering the highest standard of visitor experience for all visitors.

With a passion for all things food related and of course great customer service, you will manage ‘The Kitchen Tearoom’ within Pitmedden Garden and the pop-up catering outlets within the grounds for our year-round events programme.

You will lead the catering team with, menu design, food production, ordering, compliance, and commercial performance. Delivering a friendly, efficient service environment in line with the National Trust for Scotland’s policies, priorities, standards, and targets. You will help make our properties sustainable in every way.

You will be part of a broader management team responsible for delivering an overall visitor service strategy, promoting good communication across the site and a joined-up service provision.

JOB PURPOSE
St Abb’s Head is one of the most heavily designated natural and cultural heritage sites in the UK, including a National Nature Reserve, two Sites of Special Scientific Interest, two Special Areas of Conservation, a Special Protection Area, two Geological Conservation Review sites, and three Scheduled Monuments.

The property is internationally important for breeding seabirds and species rich grasslands and breeding grey seals as well as being home to a wide range of other wildlife. This along with the stunning coastal landscape means it is a regionally important tourist attraction which attracts over 60,000 visitors annually.

We are looking for someone to join our team, to maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of this special National Nature Reserve; maintaining excellent standards of service, optimising opportunities to generate income and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure.

JOB PURPOSE
Robert Smail’s Printing Works is an operational letterpress printing works, established in 1866 and handed down through 3 generations of the Smail family before coming into the care of the National Trust for Scotland in 1986. Smail’s in rare within the Trust in that it is a working, industrial heritage site and unique within the UK, being the last fully operational letterpress printing works on its original site, using original equipment and heritage skills to produce letterpress products today.
This role exists to maximise our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining excellent standards of service, optimising opportunities to generate income, and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure.
Specifically, to ensure the smooth and safe operations in Admissions, Tours, Retail, and Events activities making the property the best possible place to visit and work.
To deliver aspects of the guided tour in the historic Office at Robert Smail’s Printing Works through telling engaging stories about the collections and displaying replica archival material to maximize visitors’ enjoyment of the property.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times
• Welcoming all visitors to the site and processing their bookings, admissions, retail or catering purchase in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner.
• Welcoming visitors with special needs / impairments and providing a high level of service in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act.
• Welcoming International visitors and groups, aiding with specific needs in a warm and efficient manner.
• Stock-rotation and merchandising to promote and maximize sales in the shop.
• Answering visitors’ queries about the site, education facilities and the local area.
• Providing information about the site, its history, contents, offers and merchandise.
• Promoting National Trust for Scotland brand to include our Membership scheme, events, upselling other properties and any promotional campaigns, being proactive in the selling of Membership and Gift Aid.

To provide the highest degree of customer service: greet and welcome all visitors to the property; recruit new Trust members; deliver appropriate admissions procedures; and provide general visitor information.
To provide operational coordination of retail, admissions, visitor services, and events when required at Branklyn Garden in line with the Trust’s policies, priorities, performance standards and targets to contribute to the enjoyment of the property by visitors and members, and help ensure commercial, financial, and conservation objectives are achieved.
A key aspect of this role it to support the commercial performance of the retail section at Branklyn Garden by encouraging increased turnover and maximizing visitor enjoyment by offering a high quality service based on our customer needs and expectations. This role is essential to deliver excelled performance of retail and admission sales and the profitability delivers a positive contribution to the financial sustainability of Branklyn Garden.
Please note that the job involves four shifts of 3.5 hours on four different days and requires some flexibility. A weekend shift may also be expected.

JOB PURPOSE

As a member of our Visitor Services team your job is to give visitors from across the globe a warm welcome to Perth and Kinross and help generate the income that enables us to care for Branklyn Gardens.

Visiting the tearoom is an essential part of the visitor experience and the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Catering is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us.

You’ll help us maximise sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge, taking a pride in tearoom presentation and effective behind-the-scenes processes.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To help maximize our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining excellent standards of service, optimising opportunities to generate income, and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure.

Specifically, to provide an efficient, reliable service and high standards in collections care and general cleaning at the property. The post holder will be part of a wider team of employees and volunteers, helping to support the property where necessary.

The role is 40 hours worked over 5 days per week and may include occasional weekend and evening working to support events.

This role is essential to deliver excelled performance of retail and admission sales and the profitability delivers a positive contribution to the financial sustainability of Culross Palace.

JOB PURPOSE

To maximise our visitor’s enjoyment at the Battle of Bannockburn by maintaining excellent standards of service, optimising opportunities to generate income, and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Visitor Experience
• Welcoming visitors to the site and processing their admission/retail purchases in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.
• Delivering both indoor and outdoor tours, including the use of audio-visual equipment.
• Developing a strong historical knowledge of the site and wider area.
• Delivering our award-winning formal learning programme when required.
• Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed to a high standard including stock management, cleaning, record keeping, and aiding customer enquiries.
