The Role

This will include identifying and pursuing opportunities to broaden existing relationships and develop new business partnerships.

* Take the lead on developing fundraising opportunities for RZSS from companies through targeted approaches, networking and presentations, focusing on warm leads and opportunities.
* Manage a portfolio of corporate sponsors and partners, maximising their support and ensuring they have an excellent experience of working with RZSS.
* Develop long term relationships for RZSS within the corporate sector in Edinburgh and across the UK.
* Regularly research and review the CSR programmes of relevant companies, and horizon-scan for new opportunities to support our capital campaigns as they develop.
* Secure corporate sponsorship for major events organised by the RZSS.
* Work with the Events team on key corporate events and receptions.

The Role

To join a successful team to expand individual giving programmes in support of RZSS’ vision and mission at an exciting time of growth and expansion. This will include digital fundraising, recruiting and stewarding donors, managing donations and initiating compelling appeals.

This is a full time permanent role, where the working hours are 37.5 hours per week.

Some of the things you’ll do

* Work with the Development Manager to develop the RZSS donation programme, organising collateral, sourcing material, proofing creative copy and artwork and monitoring fulfilment.
* Take the lead on activities to promote donations across all relevant platforms, including digital fundraising campaigns, videos, crowdfunding, events and direct mail.
* Work with the Development Manager to support and grow the RZSS Patrons scheme, initiating recruitment marketing through relevant platforms and channels and taking responsibility for events, renewals and accurate record keeping.
* Plan, deliver and manage activities to promote Gifts in Wills to existing supporters and external audiences through a variety of media channels which may include online, videos, direct mail and internal communications, and assist with Gift in Wills administration, including responding to legacy enquiries, corresponding with executors and thanking legacy gifts.
* Manage and develop the RZSS in-memoriam scheme in conjunction with other teams.
* Deliver effective donor stewardship, providing first-class customer service by acting as first point of contact for incoming enquiries and in compliance with the Fundraising
* Code of Practice and Development Strategy.

* Take the lead on producing and submitting compelling and persuasive applications and personalised approaches to a range of funders in line with the Development Strategy.
* Research and approach new funders and opportunities for regular income generation, building a pipeline of support from charitable trusts, corporate foundations, lotteries, landfill and public sector.
* Take the lead on managing relationships with major funders, meeting deadlines for reports, communications and coordinate stewardship activities and site visits with other teams including Marketing, Communications, Membership, Conservation and Education.
* Develop and lead on new applications and approaches for capital campaigns, working closely with teams across the organisation.
* Take responsibility for timely and accurate claiming and reporting for all funding awards.
* Develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of RZSS to produce compelling fundraising materials for grant givers so they can fully understand the impact of their support.

Scottish Canals is looking for a Destination Supervisor for The Caledonian Canal Centre in Fort Augustus. The Destination Supervisor will have responsibility for operation of the visitor centre and the successful candidate will manage all employees to ensure the smooth running running of the catering delivery and service, rooms and retail areas.

You will set the standard and ensure staff exceed visitor expectations at all times. Customer care is of primary importance. You will manage and influence the visitor journey from first engagement until they leave, satisfied with their experience.

The Balmoral Estate seeks an enthusiastic housekeeping assistant for the holiday cottages.

JOB PURPOSE
To maximise visitor enjoyment by providing an efficient and accurate service, and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the property.
CONTEXT
Torridon is a spectacular mountain property situated within the Highland & Islands regional portfolio and includes some of Scotland’s finest mountain scenery popular with walkers, geologists, and naturalists. Torridon is a much sought-after holiday destination for visitors providing accommodation for families and organised groups through two holiday cottages and a bunkhouse situated within the property.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Housekeeper is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the well-being and care of the holiday accommodation at Torridon estate (as per the Trust’s Housekeeping Procedures Manual), including the following:
• Maintain stock-levels of housekeeping consumables and janitorial supplies.
• Routinely clean and look after the holiday accommodation and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing of surfaces and fittings such as furniture, ornaments, panelling, stairs, and doors
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows
o cleaning of lavatories, sinks, etc
o changing of bed linen and towels, and making of beds
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o replenishing of welcome/hospitality trays, and consumables
o cleaning and providing clean laundry for each occupancy
o disposal of general household waste
• To be first point of contact in case of queries or questions from clients regarding the holiday property and to provide additional service or help when requested.
• Assist with the administration of any repair works, liaising with the Head Ranger to arrange necessary repairs.
• Monitor the condition of furniture – reporting any loss or damage to the Head Ranger.
• Ensure COVID 19 Guidelines and Safe Systems of Work is implemented effectively within function and with external contractors.
• Undertake any administration required in support of housekeeping, including (but not limited to): planning regimes for routine and in-depth cleaning; stock control and ordering of recommended cleaning consumables/janitorial supplies; recording work undertaken.
• Deliver excellent customer care to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g. efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, and considered use of transport.

CONTEXT

Threave is one of the National Trust for Scotland’s top ten most visited attractions. The garden is made up of many landscaped features and themed areas including a Secret Garden, Rock Garden, Sculpture Garden, a variety of different water features, Azalea walk and heather beds, a one-acre traditional working walled kitchen garden, orchard, large nursery with new glasshouse facilities, extensive woodland garden and broad variety of themed beds and borders planted with a large and diverse collection of plants. Threave provides a perfect location for the Trust’s School of Heritage Gardening, offering a wide variety of horticultural experience in both traditional and modern gardening techniques.

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Head Gardener/Assistant Head Gardener, to ensure that the garden and estate are managed and maintained to a high standard in line with the aims and objectives of the National Trust for Scotland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Assisting with general horticultural duties to the required standards expected by the Trust and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors. Activities may include:
a. Grass-cutting, strimming, hedge-cutting and raking/collection
b. Assisting with glasshouse duties
c. Hand-weeding of beds and borders
d. Vegetable beds and harvesting/growing produce
e. Planting out ( under direction of staff)

2. Assisting with general property maintenance duties and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors. Activities may include:

b. Raking gravel paths

3. Assisting as required with the general enjoyment of the gardens and estate by:

The role

Plan, organise, develop, and coordinate the Property and Estates elements of delegated capital projects at Edinburgh Zoo, defining and developing and recommending appropriate actions in support of RZSS’ vision and mission, ensuring all contract information is in place to deliver a safe coordinated project.

This is a full time fixed term position for 18 – 24 months where the working hours are 37.5 hours per week and weekend working may be required.

* Contribute to various stages of delegated P&E projects including the works being assessed, prepared, scheduled and allocated.
* Contribute to the development, implementation of systems and processes which ensure that projects being undertaken are aligned with other, planned works carried out by other areas of the service

* Contribute to and monitor P&E project budgets
* Tender project work when required in accordance with agreed standards, producing accurate tender documents to ensure projects can be priced to provide best value for budget

JOB PURPOSE

Accurate information is essential in order to make well informed management decisions. This position will provide a key role in maintaining and providing access to the National Trust for Scotland’s GIS system, map requests service, biological records. This will ensure spatial and biological data are used to their full potential to meet Trust objectives, processes are efficient, data quality is maintained, and information is made widely available. Support to the wider National Trust for Scotland team will also be given as required and during the final months of 2021 the officer will provide support to the Property Database & Lettings Officer in delivery of various Asset management tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Key Purpose of the role will be met by:

• Administer the NTS ArcGIS Online Organisational account
• Maintenance of the NTS Geographical Information System including all centrally stored internal and external spatial datasets to ensure information is kept up to date and relevant to all GIS users;
• Recommendation of clear protocols and methods for data management to ensure systems are efficient and data quality is maintained, whilst developing a system for making spatial information accessible to all;
• Administering the NTS Ordnance Survey account including licencing, sub-contractor licences and purchasing;
• Advising staff regarding OS licence and copyright issues;
• Providing an efficient Trust-wide map requests service to non-GIS users;
• Providing GIS training and support to staff, students and volunteers;
• Tree inspection data management and mapping support;
• Mobile data collection app creation and maintenance;
• System management of the Recorder 6 Central Biological Records Database (SQL server) including the collation and management of biological information in a consistent manner compatible with Trust and national datasets.

Job Summary

This is a specialist conservator role, delivering paintings conservation across the collection. It is based within the Directorate of Conservation and Collections Management, reporting to one of the Senior Paintings Conservators. It sits alongside and compliments the other conservation specialisms of paper, sculpture, time-based media, preventive conservation and heritage science.

Key Responsibilities
Paintings conservation and research (80%)
• Assist colleagues with the planning and programming of the paintings conservation work required to deliver the loans, displays, exhibitions, acquisitions and collections care activities which are scheduled.
• Keep records of work undertaken over the course of the year and liaise with colleagues to flag up any anticipated issues with the delivery of the work programme and to advise on whether additional requests can be accommodated.
• Undertake the conservation work required for exhibitions and displays of paintings, both within NGS and at non-NGS sites, including advising on the suitability of works of art for transport and display, condition checking, conservation treatments and application of preventive conservation measures.
• Undertake paintings conservation work required to improve standards of collections care, such as condition surveys of targeted parts of the collection and remedial treatments of objects in poor condition.
• Carry out a range of written and electronic documentation, including requesting photography, communicating findings and providing data for entry onto the NGS collections management database (Multi Mimsy) and NGS website.
• With colleagues, respond to any incident reports which relate to paintings.
• Liaise with conservation technicians and art handling technicians to ensure that works are safely packed and installed, which may involve designing specialist storage and display cases.
• Where appropriate, undertake art historical research relating to parts of the NGS paintings collection, and conservation research relating to modes of deterioration and conservation materials and techniques.

The role

To support the implementation of the Health and Safety strategy and manage the development of the associated management systems, in conjunction with the Director of Finance & Resources.

Working with and supporting managers to deliver a safe and healthy environment for all staff, contractors, visitors and volunteers across Edinburgh Zoo, Highland Wildlife Park and external research sites.

Some of the things you’ll do:

* To act as the Competent Person for health and safety in RZSS as defined under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and be the Society’s subject matter expert for health, safety and occupational hygiene.
* In conjunction with Director of Finance & Resources, to support and contribute to the management, development and implementation of RZSS’ evolving Health and Safety strategy, plans, policies and operational procedures to meet required legal standards and targets.
* To administer and co-ordinate the internal Health & safety Committee
* To provide professional technical and practical advice on all aspects of RZSS activities.
* To proactively monitor business health and safety performance improvement and devise improvement measures as appropriate.
* Ensuring that all Health and safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated. Making sure that accurate H&S training records are maintained.
* Ensuring that all accidents/near misses are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented. Gathering, analysing and reporting on key H&S data/statistics (KPI’s) Ensuring that safety inspections and audits are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.

What we’re looking for:

* Educated to degree-level in a relevant discipline (or with equivalent practical experience) with demonstrable experience in supporting a health and safety advisory function.
* Up-to-date practical knowledge and understanding of health and safety management systems and their implementation in a complex organisation, including risk assessment; identification, assessment and control of hazardous substances; vehicles/plant/machinery; asbestos; physical agents (noise and vibration); fire risk management.
* Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent qualification e.g. NEBOSH
Practical experience, in the application of health and safety legislation in a complex multi-disciplinary organisation.

The role

To act as point of contact on interpretation projects, design, deliver and maintain high quality, creative interpretation across RZSS for the enjoyment, engagement and education of visitors across both Edinburgh Zoo and the Highland Wildlife Park to the benefit of the society’s charitable aims, objectives and key messages (engaging audiences to move from empathy to action).

Some of the things you’ll do:

* Input in the development and delivery of the interpretation strategy and annual interpretation plan to meet agreed projects and targets
* Develop, design, deliver and maintain high quality, creative interpretation across RZSS including the development and delivery of creative interpretation projects.
* Be point of contact for interpretation projects
* Lead on specific interpretation projects and developments
* Carry out research, source appropriate media, write copy and liaise with relevant suppliers to deliver an end-to-end interpretation solution including signs, panels, temporary displays and interactive resources.
* Undertake appropriate quality checks to all interpretation work in terms of proof-reading
