JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Head Stonemason the role of Stonemason exists to directly deliver conservation stonemasonry repair and maintenance projects on National Trust for Scotland properties to the highest possible standards while supporting the stonemasonry team’s objectives and apprenticeship programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Carry out surveys and prepare working drawings of stonemasonry work to be carried out
• Research original construction materials and techniques and interpret these to produce accurate conservation work to the highest standards set by the trust and other external bodies including Historic Environment Scotland.
• Record dismantle existing structure, move, fix and build new stone in repairs, alteration and new work
• Preparing, applying and curing a variety of lime mortars harls and limewashes as necessary.
• Assist the Head Stonemason in the daily management of the apprentices; this will include onsite supervision and some recording of apprentice’s progress.
• Day to day running of the workshop, plant and equipment, including cleaning, tool maintenance, PPE maintenance, helping to review stocks of materials and equipment.
• Assist in the preparation of priced and/or timed work schedules and proposals with the aim of completing work to a schedule.
• Promote the aims and objectives of the stonemasonry team, conservation stonemasonry and the Trust. This might be achieved through external lectures on workshop activities and projects as well as representing the stonemasonry team in interviews for the media.
• Follow health and safety procedures to ensure that all work carried out complies with health and safety legislation
• Assist in the updating of the SSoW to help to improve the working environment and practices of the stonemasonry team and undertake further training where required helping deliver objectives.
• Contribute to and carry out risk assessments, COSHH assessments and method statements for the safety of the stonemasons, other staff, contractors and the public
• Help to maintain up to date information & records on workshop files regarding equipment testing, maintenance and use.

JOB PURPOSE

To assist the sporting team in managing and enhancing the game management activities on Mar lodge Estate In accordance with the Deer Management Plan. Principally this will involve the use of ATV vehicles for extraction of deer carcasses, associated larder work, and general estate maintenance duties as required.

This position plays a vital role in the practical implementation and successful delivery of the written management plans. The location of the estate in such an area of environmental significance as well as high levels of public usage means that the role is often employed in practical ways to inform and educate both staff and members of the public thus reducing the risk of potential conflict between our three core principles which are, Conservation – Access – Field Sports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Helping to Deliver the MLE management plan and DMP, under the training, supervision and direction of a Stalker.
• Working at all times to a level of service delivery equivalent to, or above, published codes of conduct and best practice relating to areas of work undertaken as part of the duties of a Ghillie.
• Care and use of estate vehicles and machinery required to undertake the necessary duties of a Ghillie, such as ATV’s, 4WD’s, Tractors, including the maintenance and operator checks necessary for all vehicles and machinery used, as per training and manufacturers guidelines.
• To implement fully the National Trust for Scotland’s Health and safety policy.
• To extend the understanding of visitors to the estate of game management and field sports and the harmonious benefits to be experienced for both sports and conservation.
• General estate duties as required.

JOB PURPOSE
Your role would be to undertake general routine maintenance tasks throughout Brodie Castle, Playful Garden and the wider estate buildings and houses across the property, ensuring that the buildings, services and environment are conducive to the smooth running of the overall property in line with the aims and objectives of the Trust.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The key responsibilities of the role will be met by:
• Undertaking the day-to-day maintenance of Brodie Castle, Playful Garden and wider estate buildings on the property and maintain grounds to a high standard expected by the Trust, including but not limited to:
• Mowing and edging grass areas; repairing verges;
• Litter picking and general cleaning around buildings;
• Repair/repainting of signage;
• Painting (external & internal)
• Paths/car park and drive repairs;
• Fence, wall and building repairs.
• Ensuring all activities undertaken are compliant with the property’s Safe System of Work and Emergency Procedures.
• Conservation activities within the wider estate as and when required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Qualifications

Essential
• Demonstrate experience across a wide range of maintenance/DIY tasks including : ground maintenance work, painting, joinery, plumbing and electrical.
• Demonstrable high levels of interpersonal and communication skills and confidence in dealing with a wide range of staff and visitors.
• Ability to manage working time and tasks efficiently and effectively in an environment of changing priorities.
• Competence in working outdoors.

This role of Venue Manager has come about as OnFife are revisiting their Operations Management Team structure following on from the pandemic. It’s important to the Trust to develop the right structure so there will likely be the opportunity for permanent posts in the future; it’ll be a great time to join the team. There are some exciting times ahead as OnFife’s Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy emerges from a complete refurbishment. Significant investment into the infrastructure and production equipment is also being made across all four of their 4 theatres.

Initially the post will have day to day management responsibility for two of their venues in Central Fife, Rothes Halls in Glenrothes and The Lochgelly Centre in Lochgelly. These busy community venues both include a theatre, public library, meeting spaces and a café. It’s a role that’s well suited to an individual with great people management skills, an eye for detail, someone who’s loves to coach and develop people and enjoys delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll be working alongside colleagues that are looking afresh at how the Trust runs its operations and delivers its services, so they’ll be looking for you to bring your experience and ideas. You’ll play a significant part in helping lead the organisation through an extensive Recovery & Renewal Strategy that they’re shaping up, not only in response to the Covid pandemic, but also in the recognition that their venues need to continuously evolve.

You’ll be reporting into the Deputy Operations Manager who leads on Venues, Theatres and Heritage sites, and you’ll liaise directly with the Creative Development Team to ensure that they’re living their values; well governed; forward looking and relevant and trusted by their communities.

Being part of their Operations Team means delivering a great overall service experience to their communities. There’s a lot of day-to-day management and leadership but it’s equally about working collaboratively with colleagues. The role holder will embrace an equitable and co-ordinated approach to service delivery and development and the successful candidate will be a key member of their Operations Management Team, demonstrating the vision, empathy and agility to contribute at the highest level.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities include:

Take the day to day management and leadership responsibilities within Rothes Halls and The Lochgelly Centre. Overseeing and approving rotas to ensure appropriate levels of cover and support are consistently maintained.
Provide leadership, support and coaching to venue supervisors and front-line teams regarding the management and operation of the facilities.
To collaborate closely with OnFife’s Theatres Managers and Catering Operations Manager in helping to reshape how they deliver front line services in line with changing customer behaviour needs
Implement the organisation’s Health and Safety policies and ensure that all staff across the venues are well trained on all procedures.
Assist with the implementation of corporate initiatives including the management and delivery of major events and productions.
Seek and support continuous improvement recognising and rewarding performance and encouraging innovation.
Contribute to, and deliver against, the organisations strategic objectives and associated strategies, eg business plan, financial plan, customer services plan and communications plan.

Art Movement Team

The Art Movement Team works to national standards supporting complex national and international programming in the handling, packing, movement, installation and location tracking of a wide variety of artworks, including NGS Collection works and those on loan to NGS.

The main purpose of the post of Art Handling Technician is to ensure the safe movement, transportation and installation of all artworks within the NGS, including collections from and returns of artworks to lenders. The post holder also assists in maintaining the upkeep of the storage areas, exhibits, tools and equipment.

The Art Handling Technician is responsible to the Art Movement Manager through the Senior Art Handling Technicians, to whom they are answerable for the performance of their duties on a day to day basis.

Art Handling Technician Duties:

• Provide safe and efficient movement of art works and other objects within NGS and to other institutions, including risk assessments and method statements as required
• Contribute to resource and planning discussions as and when required in line with skills and experience
• Lead on individual project elements as requested by the Senior Technicians and Art Movement Manager
• Maintain location records following NGS procedure
• Pack and unpack objects and check conservation condition reports

JOB PURPOSE
The Participation Officer will take on a pivotal role in supporting the development and implementation of a range of participation activities, some of which are delivered in partnership with other external organisations for the National Trust for Scotland. This role will ensure that compliance around the delivery of participation activity is adhered to by interacting with different with different stakeholders out with and across the Trust.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Responsible for ensuring that participation activities delegated to them are coordinated and that compliance measures are adhered to on each activity.
2. To work with a range of internal and external stakeholders and have the ability to influence, support and provide advice on implementing new participation products.
3. To lead planning sessions if needed and advise on the internal, and external resources required to help deliver the participation product successfully.
4. To help oversee the sign-off of all compliance documentation before a participation activity is delivered in a region.
5. To carry-out any essential administrative tasks as required; raise PO’s, add suppliers, etc.
6. To participate in any scoping of a new participation product.
7. Demonstrate effective project management including identifying, managing and controlling risks via project management plans, and to escalate any risks to the Participation Manager for action.
8. Liaise directly with internal teams regarding the delivery of participation activities.
9. Identify new volunteering pathways using a OneTrust approach help support the development of training packages required to deliver that volunteering pathway in collaboration with Organisational Development.
10. Evaluate and record outcomes from new volunteering pathways.
11. Coordination of outreach, wellbeing and national inclusion activities.
12. To work with external partnerships and ensure that anticipated participation outcomes are delivered as per agreement, to communicate any immediate changes to plans or timescales with those partners.
13. Help support the mapping of participation outcomes achieved to corporate and participation KPIs.
The current duties of this job will require a criminal records (Basic/Non-Updated Disclosure Scotland) check to be carried out.
