ABOUT THE ROLE

Do you have previous experience as an Art Handling Technician? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are currently looking for 2 fixed term Art Handling Technicians to join our team. You’ll work across all four of our stunning Galleries based in the heart of Edinburgh as well as our arts store at Granton Art Centre handling our incredible art and being part of the team installing exciting exhibitions.

The Art Movement Team works to national standards supporting complex national and international programming in the handling, packing, movement, installation and location tracking of a wide variety of artworks, including NGS Collection works and those on loan to NGS.

In this role you will ensure the safe movement, transportation and installation of all artworks within the NGS, including collections from and returns of artworks to lenders. You will also assist in maintaining the upkeep of the storage areas, exhibits, tools and equipment.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU’LL MAKE

In all that you do you will be part of a small, dedicated team of Art Handling Technicians who are supported by the Senior Art Handling Technicians. Reporting to the Art Movement Manager your responsibilities will include:

Providing safe and efficient movement of art works and other objects within NGS and to other institutions, including risk assessments and method statements as required.

Contributing to resource and planning discussions as required in line with skills and experience.

Leading on individual project elements as requested.

Maintaining location records and relevant paperwork following NGS procedures.

Packing and unpacking objects and checking conservation condition reports.

Undertaking courier duties for NGS.

Sharing responsibility for the care and maintenance of equipment, including highlighting any concerns as appropriate.

Willingness if required to train towards a category C (formerly known as HGV) driving licence if not already held.

We are recruiting for an additional experienced Animal Keeper to join a farm team responsible for maintaining the highest standards of animal care, while ensuring our visitors enjoy a brilliant and memorable day out. Duties will include most aspects of the care of livestock and the operation of the farm, involving the usual range of feeding, mucking-out, cleaning and other husbandry duties along with basic site maintenance works and public talks/demonstrations. An emphasis on implementing protocols and procedures will also be a key part, as well as ensuring farm records are kept up to date .

Candidates must have appropriate experience of working with farm livestock or hoof-stock, as well as the smaller domestic and exotic animals, and possess the necessary insight and training to work safely and effectively in an animal attraction. Experience of operating farm machinery would be desirable but training will be given. This is an active, manual role that requires appropriate physical fitness and understanding of all weather work.

Much of the work takes place in the public eye, so a warm personality and a welcoming manner is essential when interacting with visitors, along with prioritising jobs and allowing the public to enjoy their day out and a keen eye for detail. It is also necessary to have the knowledge and confidence to address groups of visitors that assemble for demonstrations and events.

Nestled in a beautiful and picturesque setting just north of Glasgow, stands our beautiful Glengoyne Distillery. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Distillery Operator to join our established, hardworking team at the Glengoyne Distillery. We’re looking for someone who shares our passion for whisky and love for the industry, a professional with a positive attitude and good work ethic.

As Distillery Operator you will be responsible for ensuring we continue to produce high quality liquid in the ‘Glengoyne Way’, whilst meeting production targets and maintaining the distillation process and equipment to maximise performance, ensuring full compliance with all legal requirements and company standards. As a true ambassador of Glengoyne you will represent our brand at all times and will occasionally be required to interact with visitors, customers and other external parties, such as contractors, who attend to the distillery.

For this role, we are ideally looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role within the whisky and/or spirits industry however, we will also consider candidates who have relevant skills and experience from another industry. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, working collaboratively with their colleagues to achieve common goals, whilst also having the ability to work independently, using their own initiative and making suggestions to improve the process. It is requirement that applicants hold a full clean UK driving licence and previous fork lift truck experience would be advantageous although not essential. Part of the role will involve the administration of documentation therefore candidates must be computer literate and have experience using Excel. An understanding of all statutory and company regulations relating to health, safety, HMRC and environmental issues is also desirable.

Glengoyne is located North of Glasgow on the A81 at Dumgoyne, and as a result of the shift working pattern and the flexibility needed, it is a requirement for applicants to live within commuting distance to the distillery and have access to their own transport given the remote location and the hours worked. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate that they currently have the required documents to live and work in the UK.

Dundee Science Centre is currently looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team to fulfil the pivotal role of Visitor Experience Leader in a part time capacity.

Edinburgh Dungeon is currently seeking a Maintenance Handyperson to provide vital support to our attraction, ensuring its unique brand of scary fun is being delivered at an efficient level.

Helping to maintain and operate our shows and rides and working in a small multi-skilled team of dungeon dwellers, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance of equipment, theming, rides, and the facility. Including carrying out electrical and mechanical inspection, maintenance activities and provide support to the daily operation of this thrilling attraction.

This naturally means you’ll be dealing with both routine maintenance and breakdowns and therefore you will work swiftly and with care to diagnose and resolve problems. Utilising your hands-on knowledge and experience you will sustain minimal downtime of rides and themed attractions for the visiting peasants.

You will also provide timely and regular communication to the Technical Manager regarding operational issues, ensuring the earliest possible resolution and displaying the ability to make sound decisions and take decisive action.

This role is permanent and full-time, offering a minimum of 30 hours per week. Our attraction is open daily, so flexibility in hours and days working will be needed. Shifts vary, and normally consist of daily shifts of early Duty Tech 9am -5pm and late Duty Tech 10.30am-19.30pm (During peak season and weekends) and 9.30am -17.30pm (out of season).

We are now recruiting for a range of part-time and full-time Gallery Attendant positions to be part of our friendly and dedicated team supporting our new exhibitions. Keep up to date with current exhibitions, what’s on, general tourist information and actively promote the shops, cafés, and the benefits of the Friends scheme.

Look after the security and safety of people, responding effectively to risk.

The Commercial Marketing Officer is responsible for providing a first-class visitor experience and support the Marketing & Communications Manager with marketing duties with a focus on Dovecot’s Social Media platforms. The role supports the Commercial Manager with managing exhibition ticket and retail sales and contributing to events, visual display merchandising and running of our online shop. You will act as the first point of contact for customers and ensure visitor targets are met through excellent customer service, data management, communication and Commercial marketing initiatives.

You will work as part of a dynamic team with a remit to expand our public offer and maximise income generation to support the world-renowned Dovecot Tapestry Studio. You will be expected to gain knowledge about Dovecot and share this confidently, acting as an ambassador for Dovecot with our visitors, participants, and suppliers.
