The Botanics Trading Company Ltd is looking to appoint temporary sales assistants to support our Christmas at the Botanics light event at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh that runs from November 25th to January 2nd 2022. Applicants should possess excellent customer service skills and experience in a fast paced retail environment. A friendly outgoing personality and good attention to detail are essential. Successful candidates would be required to work evening shifts from 4pm for a maximum of 6 hours per shift to 10pm including some weekends as well as Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

The role

Providing a first-class sales and customer service experience to all visitors at RZSS Edinburgh Zoo and by providing information and assistance and ensuring an environment that is engaging and well maintained.

Some of the things you’ll do:

* Provide first-class customer service by maintaining a positive, welcoming environment, proactive and helpful attitude to all visitors at all times, meeting or exceeding our Customer Service Standards.
* Operate admissions and retail systems efficiently and effectively to both sell and upsell products.
* Ensure all front of house areas and other RZSS retail outlets are maintained to the highest standard, ensuring stocks are regularly replenished, all areas are clean and clear, all products are displayed and merchandised as directed.
* Operate the tills efficiently and assist with the counting and recording of monies to agreed standards.
* Occasionally provide assistance in other operational areas (Visitor Experience) including events, car parking and driving visitor passenger vehicles.

What we’re looking for:

* Good achievement in standard grades (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
* Accurate numerical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
* Engaging customers empathetically to link or upsell our products.
* Use of electronic cash till.
* Providing first-class customer care and service, including dealing with customer queries.
* Previous work in a range of retail activities.

Lifts and Tows Operator
The role involves working outdoors in a harsh winter environment, an ability to ski or snowboard at an advanced level is required. You will be often the first contact on site and a positive attitude is required. You will assist the Technical Ops team in the set up and close down procedures for the snow sports uplifts. Full training will be given.
• Skier or Snowboarder, you must be confident at getting around the ski area, especially in harsh weather conditions
• Preparing and maintaining the ‘Get on Ramp’ area throughout the day
• Excellent customer focus, being proactive in assisting skier and boarders onto the tows
• Maintaining vigilance at all times to identify areas of concern and H&S
• Been able to communicate clearly using the 2-way radio transmitters
• Liaising throughout the day with Tech Ops and Ski Patrol

Equipment Hire Team
The role will be to ensure that our clients have a smooth passage through the hire department. You would be involved in boot fitting and setting up skis and snowboards, as well as taking payments. Our Easy Rent system takes the customer from the online or onsite booking through to payment. We will operate both on and off-site options for the clients. Full training will be given
• Experience in working within an equipment hire area would be desirable
• Being attentive to the needs of the customer
• Guiding the customers through the process in a timely manner
• Potential to working across two sites
• Observing a high standard of cleanliness in the department in-keeping with current Covid -19 restrictions.
• Processing Card and Cash payments.

Kitchen Porter – Chef
The role would suit an experienced KP or trainee chef, you would be working with the chef team in a variety of jobs, and you would be working on a variety of tasks from preparing vegetables, making sandwiches and pot washing.
• Experienced in a kitchen environment would be an advantage
• Assisting the chefs in the preparation tasks in the kitchen on a morning
• Managing the pot wash area in a methodical manner
• Observing a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen areas in-keeping with current Covid -19 restrictions.

KEY PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Head Gardener and in liaison with key contractors the post holder will carry out a program of removing invasive Rhododendron ponticum and other undesirable plants and clearing fallen trees, as part of the ongoing restoration of the essential shelterbelt.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hospitality experience at a beautiful visitor attraction. As Kitchen Assistant, you will help with food preparation and carry out a range of other general duties, like cleaning, dishwashing, recycling and stock moving.
