JOB PURPOSE

Do you have a passion for food and dedicated to high levels of customer service? Visiting our Café is an essential part of the visitor experience for those coming to Pollok House and the role of the Visitor Service Assistant – Catering is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us. This role will be required to work evenings to assist with weddings or other events

Core hours will be the minimum hours available, with the opportunity to work additional hours to suit the needs of the business. Must have full weekend availability, hours will be issued on a rota basis.
You may be required for additional support with other areas of the property such as Admissions, Retail, and Events activities to meet the business needs.

JOB PURPOSE
The gallery at Pollok House is a cultural asset created to enrich the Visitor Experience at Pollok House and function as a destination in its own right. You will welcome visitors to the gallery and help them to feel empowered as they experience the exhibitions.

The exhibition programme will enrich the stories of Pollok House by adding layers to the narratives of the core visit. Exhibitions will place the Maxwells and Glasgow in new historic and contemporary contexts to widen and diversify participation with Pollok House. The gallery will also provide the impetus for a brave and vibrant events programme. This will be delivered by VSA (Exhibitions and Engagement), volunteers, and external partners.

The gallery will increase visitor numbers to Pollok House and give the whole team at Pollok new opportunities to promote NTS and sell Membership. It will also encourage Members to return to the property, increasing membership retention. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the work of the National Trust for Scotland and securing its future by recruiting and maintinaing members.

This is an exciting time for Pollok Park and all its attractions. As the Burrell Collection prepares to reopen after an exciting refurbishment and redisplay, we except a significant increase in visitors. Visitor Services Assistants (Exhibitions and Engagement) will support the VSM (Audience Engagement) to develop a strategic relationship with colleagues at the Burrell Collection, cementing Pollok Park as a cultural destination for locals, Scots and international tourists.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and talented customer focused individuals to join our team at Crathes Castle.
Crathes Castle is a fabulous place for tourists and locals to soak up the atmosphere of old Scotland. Staff should be passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences to our visitors and guests and able to maximise opportunities to generate income. It’s important that Visitor Service Assistants (VSA’s) ensure the property and its assets are safe and secure. Furthermore, we’re looking for team workers who are also able to use their own initiative and are driven to make a difference.
This role is about creating a 5 star visitor experience and providing outstanding customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times when:

• Welcoming visitors and promoting the value of Trust membership.
• Assisting visitors in selecting and purchasing the most appropriate ticket option
• Processing retail deliveries, ensuring that stock is displayed and that the stock is kept tidy
• Guiding visitors throughout the property and providing information on its history, its furnishings and inhabitants.
• Stewarding rooms during high season, providing information on the history of the room
• Handling cash accurately and processing sales
• To actively drive up selling opportunities on membership through strong knowledge and an excellent customer service.
• Be able to take responsibility for your own development and learning.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours and days including working weekend and Bank Holidays as appropriate.
• To work across departments when necessary supporting the wider team
• To provide consistently excellent customer service when dealing with high volumes of customers and busy periods, including coach visits.
• Adhering to the property’s quality standards including wearing of uniform.
• Ensuring health and welfare of property staff, volunteers and visitors by adhering to the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines. This includes working within the property’s “Safe System of Work” (the system for managing Health & Safety).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times
• Welcoming visitors to the site and processing their catering purchase in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner;
• Providing information about the site, its history, contents, offers and merchandise;
• Promoting National Trust for Scotland brand to include our Membership scheme, events, upselling other properties and any promotional campaigns, being proactive in the selling of Membership and Gift Aid.

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Head Gardener, to ensure that the garden and estate are managed and maintained to a high standard in line with the aims and objectives of the National Trust for Scotland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assisting with general horticultural duties to the required standards expected by the Trust and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors. Activities may include:
• Grass-cutting, strimming, hedge-cutting and raking/collection
• Cutting of lawn edges
• Hand-weeding of beds and borders
• Weeding, watering and feeding vegetable beds and harvesting produce
• Planting out (under direction of staff)
• Application of mulches
• Assisting with general property maintenance duties and for the maximum safety of, and enjoyment by, visitors. Activities may include:
• Refuse disposal
• Raking gravel paths
• Assisting as required with the general enjoyment of the gardens and estate by:
• Responding to general visitor enquiries
• Assisting at events held within the garden or on the estate
• Assisting with interpretation activities such as answering basic horticultural enquiries from visitors and providing clear and accurate plant labeling.
• Working with the full time staff to foster positive relationships with local communities, visitors and promoting the work of the Trust, and actively seeking opportunities to increase Trust membership
• Working with volunteers to ensure they deliver required outputs at the appropriate standard and gain benefits from their volunteering
• Ensuring compliance with the Trust’s health, safety and environment policies and procedures to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers and visitors. This includes recognition of the Trust’s environmental policy with respect to sustainable gardening policies.

This role will assist the Engagement team to deliver high quality visitor experience at Culloden Battlefield, and across the Culloden Cluster (including but not limited to):

• Deliver daily high quality informal and formal engagement programming
• Develop strong historical knowledge of site and wider area
• Be responsible and proactive. Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed including record keeping and reporting figures, cleaning, preparation and basic administration as required.
• To provide consistently excellent customer service when dealing with high volumes of customers
• Cash reconciliation duties including start and end of day tasks, must have experience handling cash accurately and processing sales
• Be able to take responsibility for your own development and learning.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours and days including working weekend and Bank Holidays as appropriate.
• To work across departments when necessary, supporting the wider Culloden cluster
• Adhering to the property’s quality standards including but not limited to the wearing of uniform.
• Ensuring health and welfare of property staff, volunteers, and visitors by adhering to the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines. This includes working within the property’s “Safe System of Work” (the system for managing Health & Safety).
• Ensuring Safe systems of work are implemented effectively within all activities

This role is one for which the duties, responsibilities or accountabilities of the role require you to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme, administered by Disclosure Scotland. This role involves regulated work with children / vulnerable adults.

You will be responsible for delivering our commercial offer which includes membership, general admission, donations, some retail products and travel trade.
