Role Responsibilities:

Learn the history and heritage of the distillery and be able to communicate this to visitors.
Responsibility for service delivery through leading all distillery tours and on/offsite tastings.
Work across all areas of the visitor centre including hosting groups, working in the retail shop and tasting bar.
Host all levels of tours of the distillery, delivering high standards of customer service.
Responsible for opening and closing premises.
Assist with stock takes and counts.
Daily banking and reconciliation.
Administrative duties including responding to customer emails, processing of sales orders and organising the daily diary.
Work closely with the Visitor Centre Manager to define annual goals/objectives.
Work with the distillery operations team to ensure company operational procedures and H&S practices are adhered to rigorously.
Ensure Visitor Centre facilities are always maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.

Qualifications & Experience:

Drive and passion for delivering excellent customer service and experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a ‘’can do’’ attitude.
Have good listening and questioning skills.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to deliver presentations to wide and varied audiences.
Proven ability to work on own initiative and to build and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders.
Strong drive and desire to succeed with high levels of energy, focus and ambition.

Seasonal Visitor Services Assistant

June, July & August, part-time
Bowhill House & Grounds, Selkirk

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly and busy Visitor Services team at Bowhill House and Grounds, a five-star visitor attraction near Selkirk, during the 2022 season.

In this role you will work in our café welcoming visitors, serving delicious cakes, lunches and refreshments, and ensuring that the highest standards of hygiene are maintained. You will also work in the kiosk issuing tickets, dealing with bookings and giving visitors the information they need to enjoy their visit. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in a busy visitor services environment.

Community Development Officer, Fixed Term

The Art Works is our project to deliver a sustainable new facility for the National Galleries of Scotland to care for, research and share Scotland’s world-renowned collection of art. We will build a dynamic new facility in Granton, right at the heart of the local community, with spaces for local people and groups to meet and connect. It will be the largest building in Scotland designed to the Passivhaus environmental standard and, once open, it will operate at carbon net zero.

This role will ensure that NGS is responding to and working with the local community to embed The Art Works in North Edinburgh to enable it to make a positive contribution. The post holder will maintain and developing relationships with local groups and organisations. The role will enable the community voice to contribute and influence the Art Works in terms of its design and its contribution to the community. The role will be a conduit for clear and open communication between the local community, NGS colleagues and project partners. The research and insights gained through working with the community will support the wider NGS audience development planning and as such this post will have an awareness and understanding of the audience plans for NGS. The post will contribute to a community engagement plan for NGS and The Art Works.

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Maintain, and develop new relevant, relationships with community groups and organisations in North Edinburgh

2. Maintain up to date knowledge of community research, consultations, community planning for the local North Edinburgh area.

3. Plan and deliver a financially viable programme of engagement for NGS and the local north Edinburgh communities that establish NGS presence in local area, and aligns with the strategic direction of The Art Works

4. Integrate existing NGS programmes with local community

5. Contribute to the development of The Art Works project through contributions to reports, team discussions, project decision making and collaborating across the project and NGS more widely

Community Engagement Manager

This post will oversee the community engagement work of the department across programmes ensuring best practice in the approach, delivery and legacy. The post will work with colleagues to identify areas of community engagement work that have the potential for further development and growth, and will effectively articulate, plan and champion this. The post will also support, and at times lead on, specific community engagement partnerships and projects within NGS with an initial focus being the overview of The Art Works community engagement strand. This will include the line management of the programme officer and advising on strategic alignment and sustainability of the programme.

The post will be a key part of the management team within the department and will support and progress the strategic direction of the Learning & Engagement department where Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Health and Wellbeing are two key priorities. The post line-manages part of the team and will undertake management duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department. The post reports to the Head of Learning and Engagement and will work alongside the Deputy Head of Learning and Engagement: Exhibitions & Collection.

Key responsibilities:

1. To oversee and provide management support to the community engagement work of the department across programmes ensuring best practice in the approach, delivery and legacy.

2. To identify areas of community engagement work within the department that have the potential for further development and roll-out, and effectively articulate, champion and progress this.

3. To support specific community engagement partnerships and projects within NGS with the initial focus being the management overview of The Art Works community engagement programme.

National Mining Museum Scotland is the national body responsible for the preservation and interpretation of Scotland’s Mining Heritage. VISITOR SERVICES AIMS
Visitors are an essential part of the Museum and we aim to exceed their expectations. Visitor Services Assistants (VSA) are key to providing visitors with a 5 star level of customer service – from the moment they enter the museum – setting them up for an amazing experience for the rest of the day. VSA’s are responsible for answering queries, orientating visitors and making sure they have all the information they need to enjoy their visit. PURPOSE OF POST
 To provide a high quality customer services to ensure that NMMS visitors of all ages have an enjoyable experience that informs, educates and inspires.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Greet each customer in a friendly and approachable manner
 Orientate visitors by informing them of facilities on site
 Proactively undertake visitor surveys and input results into the database
 Inform visitors about NMMS programmes and events and sell tickets when appropriate
 Sell tickets to visitors and up-sale appropriately
 Keep accurate records of tour numbers and communicate with guides
 Serve as first point of contact for telephone enquires

 Accept deliveries, goods match shop stock and report any discrepancies to line manager
 Order, unpack, label and store or shelve shop stock
 Monitor and report on shop stock levels
 Maintain the appearance of the shop to a high standard ensuring that stock is displayed in an attractive manner, shelves are dusted, glass cases are clean and shop talkers are displayed

 Commit to good Health and Safety practice and ensure familiarity with NMMS health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines
 Maintaining a safe and clean environment
 Regularly check exhibition areas and report any issues

 Assist in the preparation and delivery of educational tours, learning activities and museum events

Visitor Experience Assistant

We currently have vacancy based at the National Museum of Scotland. Your role will be working front of house, meeting and greeting visitors and helping them to have a great visitor experience.

Previous experience of delivering high quality service to others is desirable, but more important to us is your confident, friendly and visitor focused disposition.

Gardener

Haddo House

Haddo House is located around 5 miles from the village of Tarves, set within extensive country park, it is a magnificent example of a Scottish stately home in the Palladian style. The elegant and luxurious interior are home to an extensive art collection, including 85 paintings of Aberdeenshire castles by acclaimed Victorian artist James Giles

Outside the terrace garden, there are a series of informal lawns and landscape trees which lead the visitor in to the wider designed landscape and join with the Country Park and the impressive Scots Mile.

This regionally significant House and the wider country park welcome over 200,000 visitors a year; a competent and enthusiastic gardener is required to complete and compliment the staff structure. An eye for detail as well as flair for creating a beautiful visitor environment is essential.
