Catering Team Leader (Permanent, 30 hours per week)

In this role as Catering Team Lead you’ll be working to provide a first-class catering service to visitors to our beautiful and stunning RZSS Highland Wildlife Park located in the Cairngorms National Park.

The role

To coordinate the day-to-day catering operations to deliver first-class visitor experience and that your team and visitors enjoy a safe and happy environment; whilst generating income to exceed agreed targets in support of RZSS vision and mission.

This role is a permanent role where the working hours are 30 hours per week and weekend working will be required. Starting salary of £17,398 (this is the pro-rated salary)

Some of the things you’ll do:
– Working with direction from the Catering Coordinators, provide day-to-day supervision of the Catering team.
– Develop and maintain a supportive and dynamic first-class sales and service culture amongst the team -focusing on delivering high standards of service and food presentation in accordance with Cook safe regulations.
– Ensure the Café areas are presented to the highest standards (displays, seating areas, signage), fully stocked and equipment is cleaned, maintained and serviced on a regular basis and report to the Coordinator any maintenance issues.
– Support Visitor Experience Assistants with visitor complaints and act a route of escalation to deal with refunds in a professional manner and referring customer to your line manager if complaint cannot be resolved.
– Working alongside the back of house team to ensure the smooth running of the cafe and outdoor catering areas as one united team

What we’re looking for:
– Good achievement at Higher grade level (including English & Mathematics) or equivalent qualifications or experience.
– Trained/certificate in Cooksafe and has ability/qualification to train others
– Good understanding and use of electronic cash systems.
– Significant experience of leading a team in a customer service environment

Personal Specification
Essential:

Sales experience including ability to proactively introduce additional products or services to visitors, upselling and maximising sales.

Maths Week Scotland is a partnership between the Scottish Government and National Museums Scotland. Now in its sixth year, the programme aims to raise the profile of maths and create opportunities for a wide range of audiences to engage with maths activities. It consists of events and resources during a focal week of celebration as well as activity throughout the year.

In this new role, you will bring an enthusiasm for maths to developing and creating informative, engaging and accessible digital content for the website, social media and other online platforms. This role will help build the overall profile of Maths Week Scotland, drive engagement with Maths Week Scotland resources and attendance at
events. At key times during the year you will also support the promotion of Maths Week Scotland via press and PR.

Educated to degree or equivalent level in communications and/or marketing, you will have experience in developing online marketing and social media content. You will be able to work effectively within a small team and with internal and external stakeholders. An understanding of the informal education sector and STEM engagement is desirable.

The post-holder will help to lead on the delivery of the new Audience Engagement Strategy during 2022-3. This strategy has been developed to enable us to expand our reach beyond our normal tourist visitors through the creation of new partnerships, collaborations and activities, both locally and within the wider community. The aim is to broaden the reach of the museum and increase the income of the Trust by increasing footfall from every possible avenue.

The Audience Engagement Coordinator is an exciting and new, fixed term post. The post-holder will work as a key member of the Museum of Lead Mining team and will be expected to deliver the Audience Engagement Action Plan and ensure quality, innovative, authentic and accessible opportunities for all audiences and stakeholders. This will include working with both the local and wider community, primary and secondary schools, higher education, specialist interest groups. The strategy is in its final phase of development. Many of the future relationships have already been established in developing the strategy. The final strategy and action plan will define the work involved in shaping the action plan into activities. The outcomes of the project are not currently fixed. There will be regular review by the team as plans evolve and develop.

A working knowledge or experience of visitor services in historic sites or attractions is ideal, but not essential.

An exciting opportunity has opened to join the team at The National Wallace Monument as a Visitor Experience Supervisor.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual, who is committed to delivering a first class customer experience to every visitor at the attraction.

The main responsibility of the post holder will be to work with the onsite team and supervise the operations of the Monument and Abbey Craig alongside the Management team, this is set out on a rota over 7 days.

The post is a customer focused role and the holder will be expected to have a good level of background knowledge about the attraction, the surrounding area, as well as Stirling’s wider tourism offering. They will also be required to assess individual visitor needs, upsell products and ensure that each customer receives the highest level of customer service at all times.

The successful candidate will need to ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to, and that the attraction grounds are being consistently maintained to the highest possible standard.

• Deliver excellent customer care (internal and external) to foster a friendly and inviting atmosphere for visitors, staff and volunteers.
• Working in harmony with other departments; visitor services, events, gardening, maintenance and site repair employees/contractors.
• Share in the common responsibility of working in a manner mindful of the Trust’s obligations to minimise impact on the environment, through e.g. efficient use of water/heat/light, recycling and the disposal of waste, considered use of transport.
