To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times
• Welcoming visitors to the site and processing their admission/retail or catering purchase in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner;

• Answering visitors’ queries about the site, education facilities and the local area;

• Promoting National Trust for Scotland brand to include our Membership scheme, events, upselling other properties and any promotional campaigns, being proactive in the selling of Membership and Gift Aid.

To maintain excellent standards of site and personal presentation at all times
• The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary, toilet cleaning, emptying waste bins and as appropriate vacuum cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting and polishing when required;
• Ensuring site is ready to open and welcome visitors by the set opening time;
• Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required.
• Reporting all instances of damage and wear and tear issues promptly to your line manager;
• Working in harmony with other departments; housekeeping, gardening, grounds maintenance and site repair employees/contractors.

Financial Responsibilities (where applicable)
• To adhere to all financial procedures to include till operation and banking and safeguarding of monies: to implement amendments to standard procedure as instructions may dictate.

Retail/Catering/Events/Cashier duties (where applicable)
• To ensure good housekeeping of catering kitchens, serveries and back of house areas.
• To ensure that retail merchandising is in accordance with NTS policy.
• To assist in achieving site retail/catering/events targets and KPI’s.
• To actively upsell products and services to facilitate the visitor’s enjoyment.
• To actively feedback visitor comments to line managers to develop and improve offer, service, operations.
• To work flexibly across departments and sites as needed.
• To assist with the set-up, stewarding and break-down of events in liaison with the events coordinator.
• To assist with Heritage Hospitality events. Staff may be asked to work through into the night hours.

Health and Safety
• To ensure site meets with Health and Safety legislation in liaison with your department manager.
• To ensure that visitors vacate the site at close of business and that the site is secured at end of day.
• To use personal protection equipment as provided and directed by your line manager

JOB PURPOSE

As a member of our Visitor Services team your job is to give visitors from across the globe a warm welcome to Kellie castle and help generate the income that enables us to care for the Castle & Gardens.

You’ll help to maximise sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge, in the shop, welcome hub, Castle and tea room, taking a pride in presentation and effective behind-the-scenes processes.

SCOPE OF JOB

Customer Service

• Regular interaction with members of the public of all ages and abilities, many from overseas and many National Trust for Scotland members.

Teamwork

• Regular interaction with employee and volunteer colleagues to share daily tasks and support a smooth visitor operation.

Sales, stock and financial processes

• Help achieve sales targets and membership recruitment targets.
• Operate tills and share end of day cash reconciliation duties, as appointed by Visitor Services Supervisor.
• Support the Visitor Services Supervisor with stock management processes.

Tools/equipment and cleaning chemicals

• Occasional user of cleaning chemicals.
• Expected to become familiar with and comply with the property’s Health and Safety and food hygiene policies or ‘Safe Systems of Work’
The current duties of this job do not require a criminal records (Disclosure Scotland) check to be carried out.

You will lead a team of cleaning staff across a variety of shift patterns throughout our Chambers Street complex, assisting the Cleaning Supervisor in resource allocation, the distribution of cleaning materials, and the preparation of orders for team supplies in ensuring a high standard of service provision.

You will also work effectively as part of a cleaning team, with responsibility for cleaning/maintaining both public and private (staff) areas to a consistently high standard in contribution to the overall visitor experience. You will possess an understanding of cleaning/hygiene techniques and the benefits of successful team working.

The responsibilities of the post are shared with a counterpart team leader and as such communication will be an area which will need to be demonstrated to ensure that a fully integrated cleaning team work effectively.

The cleaning team works from 07:00hrs to 22:00hrs and sometimes beyond this time to support events. The hours of this post will fall between 16:30hrs to 22:00hrs on five days over seven attendance on a three week shift pattern.

We have a unique opportunity for a Learning Coordinator to join our Learning team for a fixed term of two years. You will be primarily responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of a programme of projects and events that are designed in accordance with the aims of DCA, specifically working with young people aged 0-25.

The Learning programme is designed to support the development of pathways that connect a range of communities and those within formal and informal education with the programme of DCA and will reflect, augment and extend the arts programme at DCA. The post holder will work with the Head of Learning in ensuring all learning projects and events taking place at DCA are delivered effectively and that opportunities for participation and collaboration are maximised.

Location
