JOB PURPOSE
To help maximize our visitors’ enjoyment of National Trust for Scotland managed sites by maintaining excellent standards of service, optimizing opportunities to generate income and ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure.

Specifically, to provide an efficient, reliable service and high standards in collections care and general cleaning at the Palace at all times. Working 5 days out of 7, which will include weekend working during the open season, and occasional evenings to support events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
To carry out a wide range of collections care duties as directed by the Visitor Services Supervisor Collections Care
• In line with current NTS best practice, clean and care for the collection of furniture, books, artworks, glass, ceramics, metals, textiles, other objects and historic interiors.
• Ensure all public areas are kept clean, hygienic and tidy at all times.
• Work as part of a team ensuring collections care across all Fife properties.
• Keep up to date and accurate conservation records in liaison with your line manager.
• Help to ensure the NTS Integrated Pest Management regime is in place and monitored.
• Help to ensure Emergency Plans and related equipment is up to date and take an active role in staff training in liaison with your line manager across all cluster properties.

To ensure the preparation for safe movement, display, installation, transportation and
storage of artworks from Perth and Kinross’ Recognised Collection of National Significance and assisting with those from our lenders.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

FAMILIES & EARLY YEARS PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATOR
Part-time (30 hours per week). Fixed-Term Maternity Cover (up to 12 months)

THE ROLE

As the Families & Early Years Programme Co-ordinator, you will develop and deliver learning programmes for families and early years. This work will take place across all NGS galleries, as well as online and in settings outside of NGS.

You will have previous experience of working with families, ideally using galleries or museums, and have a creative and practical approach to learning and access. You will be part of a close-knit team in which mutual respect and excellent communication skills are essential. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Learning & Engagement, you will also liaise regularly with colleagues across the Galleries.

The families and early years programme aims to connect families with art and creativity through artist-led workshops, resources to help guide family visits, online activities and by working with partners and external organisations. Our partnership work aims to break down barriers to engaging with NGS, this can include working with organisations who provide opportunities for families experiencing disadvantage and inequality. Other partnerships include the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity. The health and wellbeing benefits of engaging with art and creativity is an important strand that runs through the families and early years programme.

JOB PURPOSE

This role will ensure five-star standards of hygiene and cleanliness across the Culloden Cluster. They will maximise visitor enjoyment by providing an efficient and accurate service, and high standards in housekeeping based on the needs of the properties
Sites
Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre welcomes around 300 000 visitor per year. The visitor centre includes a bespoke retail space, café and exhibition.
Abertarff House was built in 1593 and is the oldest home in Inverness. It includes a tearoom, meeting rooms and exhibition space. It is open to the public from late spring through to the end of October.
Hugh Miller’s Birthplace Cottage and Museum is in Cromarty on the Black Isle; the site includes a thatched cottage, 18th century home and two holiday rentals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The VSA Cleaner/Housekeeping is responsible for a wide variety of housekeeping duties in connection with the Culloden Cluster.
· Manage stock levels of housekeeping consumables and janitorial supplies.
· Routinely clean and look after the built heritage properties in the Culloden Cluster and will involve but is not limited to:
o vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing of floors
o dusting/polishing glass museum cases
o dusting/wiping of sills, skirtings, door, and window frames
o cleaning of windows (working at height and ground level)
o cleaning of bathroom/toilet areas and fittings
o cleaning of staff welfare areas and equipment
o checking functionality of lighting, heating, TV/radio etc
o Litter picking car park and amenity areas
