JOB PURPOSE

As a member of our Visitor Services team your job is to give visitors from across the globe a warm welcome to Haddo House and help generate the income that enables us to care for Haddo House and other National Trust for Scotland properties.

Visiting our Haddo House Courtyard Cafe is an essential part of the visitor experience, and the role of the Café Assistant is to make it a positive and memorable part of a visitor’s day with us.

You will help us maximise sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge, taking a pride in cafe presentation and effective behind-the-scenes processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To provide a consistently high standard of visitor care at all times when:
• Welcoming all visitors to the site and processing their catering purchase in a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable manner; supporting visitors with special needs / impairments and providing a high level of service in accordance with the Equality Act.
• Answering visitors’ queries about the catering offer, deals, seating, and ingredients.
• Checking on how visitors are enjoying their experience of catering at Haddo House and enquiring whether all their needs are met.
• Consistently presenting high quality plating of food.
• Promoting the National Trust for Scotland and the benefits of membership of it.
• To maintain excellent standards of site and personal presentation at all times
• The general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary
• Wearing correct uniform, name badges, or PPE as required.

KEY PURPOSE
This role will provide support in the delivery of woodland management operations and access requirements across the National Trust for Scotland properties in North East Scotland. Working within the North East Ranger Service, this role will support delivery of woodland management, public engagement and education sessions, and estate maintenance.
The primary objective of this role is to contribute to the establishment of a small tree nursery at Drum Castle Garden & Estate, to produce the future cohort of local oak seedlings to support the regeneration and replanting of woodlands severely damaged by Storm Arwen. This operation will also augment natural recruitment of oak seedlings within the Old Wood of Drum Site of Special Scientific Interest, an ancient oak wood pasture. This woodland is highly valued for its cultural and historical significance, as well as its ecological features of veteran and ancient oak trees and the associated flora, fauna and ecological community it supports.
This role will also be part of delivery of engagement and education sessions as part of the North East Rangers engagement programme. There will be opportunity to support woodland monitoring, and the maintenance and repair of trails and countryside visitor structures across North East Trust properties as outlined by the North East Ranger Service maintenance programme. This could include working with, and, with training, leading community and volunteer work parties supporting woodland management and estate trails and structures maintenance.

JOB PURPOSE
The Ranger is required to support the property team in delivering improved ecological conditions across the properties of Kintail, West Affric and the Falls of Glomach, to ensure all habitats are in favourable condition. This will be primarily achieved through the continued delivery of the reduction cull of deer over the properties of Kintail and West Affric. This role will actively participate in supporting the property team in the maintaining the infrastructure of the estate to the highest possibly standards. The role will actively engage with visitors and communities to increase the Trust’s visibility, by promoting the positive work the Trust carries out, and to care for and enhance, the natural and cultural heritage of the properties.

JOB PURPOSE

The Role

This includes providing information, support for visiting groups, responding to Family and Local History enquiries and assisting with museum object handling and preparing gallery spaces.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced traffic / security professional to join our team working in an amazing location in the heart of Edinburgh amongst magnificent, listed buildings.

Working mainly on the Mound Precinct, you will be responsible for safely managing vehicle access and egress outdoors while providing security and helping visitors to the Galleries. The position can be physically demanding as you will be standing for most of your shift and a love of working outdoors is a must.

You will be an important point of contact for all visitors therefore excellent customer service and strong communication skills are required. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and interacting with contractors and tradespeople in accordance with daily schedules. Strong health and safety awareness is required.

The difference you’ll make

Reporting to the Gallery Supervisor your responsibilities will include:

– Providing a high standard of security and visitor care, maintaining a professional manner and being the public face of the National Galleries of Scotland whilst welcoming and assisting visitors.

– Exercising control over vehicles entering and leaving the Mound Precinct.

– Supervising of contractors and trades people.

– Staffing fixed duty or access points including searching incoming baggage or containers as necessary.

– Maintaining accurate records.

– Assisting the public in emergency situations and resolving customer concerns and complaints.

– Supervision of members of the public to ensure the safety of the collections and regulation of those failing to comply with the Gallery’s conditions of entry.

– Manual handling tasks as well as light cleaning and portering duties.

– Adherence to Health and Safety guidelines.

– Proactively keeping up to date with our exhibitions, events and displays and to engage with the public on these, whilst also remaining vigilant.

Who we are looking for

To succeed in this role, you’ll need the following range of knowledge, skills, and experience:

– Proven experience in traffic control management is essential.

– Previous experience of working within a Customer Services environment.

– Security experience and knowledge of Health & Safety guidelines.

– Strong communication skills and ability to relate to visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

– Ability to use initiative, work independently and have the resilience to positively respond to challenges.

– Enjoy working as part of a team and with the public.

– Flexible approach to the job and be able and willing to work weekends, evenings and any required overtime.
