We are looking for a Cook to join our Catering team. We welcome hundreds of people each week to our Centre and this role ensures that the variety, quality, and sustainability of food products provided through our Seabird Café contributes to the customer’s overall experience.

The Cook supports the preparation of the food on the menu for our daily service and occasional events.

The main responsibilities of the Cook are:

i. Check the quality of ingredients and prepare these to use in cooking (chopping and
peeling vegetables, cutting meat, preparing salads etc.).
ii. Learn and become familiar with the cooking process, equipment and appliances used
to make each of our dishes.
iii. Ensure great presentation of our food, by dressing dishes before they are served.
iv. Cook dishes under the supervision of the Catering Manager or the Chef and develop
sufficient competence to provide cover during staff absences/holiday cover.
v. Ensure that all dishes for a single order are ready for serving at the same time and
co-ordinate effectively with the café serving team.
vi. Take responsibility for maintaining and cleaning the kitchen area/equipment
ensuring that all appropriate standards are met.
vii. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
viii. Monitor stock levels and advise the Catering Manager or Chef of any orders that need to be placed.
ix. Ensure that all duties are undertaken in compliance with health and safety, food
standards and hygiene regulations and practices, as well as our internal procedures.
x. Carry out any other reasonable duty which is within the competence of the post.

Essential skills and experience

The Role
We are looking to appoint a versatile individual to join our team working at Bankhead Depot, Glenrothes. The team member will work between our Home Delivery Service and Mobile Libraries, covering all aspects of their operations. This will include working as a library assistant in both the office and mobile libraries and as a driver of the mobile library and home delivery vehicles.

This role involves working alone, or as part of a small team serving our customers throughout Fife.

Normal hours are 8.48 to 5pm Mondays to Wednesdays and every second Thursday from 8.48 to 5pm. Additionally, we would require the successful candidate to be able to work a full 36 hour week to cover absences when necessary.

About You
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has a flexible approach to their work and can adapt to new working environments.

A background or keen interest in libraries is essential as is knowledge and confidence in using ICT systems including Microsoft applications and library management systems.

The role involves driving a small delivery van and a large (7.2 tonne) mobile library vehicle. A full, clean current driving licence with C1 entitlement is therefore essential as is a current driver CPC qualification or willingness to work toward this.

A good level of local and general knowledge is essential, together with a keen interest in books for adults and children.

As you will be the face of OnFife on a day-to-day basis, a helpful and approachable manner, excellent communication skills, a flexible attitude and a customer-focused approach are essential.

Purpose of the Post:
The Café Supervisor is responsible for delivering a high-quality standard of food preparation and production for the café and other catering service offers, displaying freshly produced meals and snacks for visitors, as well as excellent customer service. The role is integral to the commercial and operational success of the café and the postholder is required to follow all operational and safety procedures to support this delivery. The role will support the Café Manager.

The Museum Collections Officer will work closely with the Museum Manager(s) to manage and
care for the collection, documenting it on the collections management system, review and
rationalize the collection to meet Accreditation standards, researching and answering enquiries,
and working with the engagement and front of house team to increase engagement with the
collection.

Working in a small team means that you will be expected to use your initiative and take on a wide
range of responsibilities noted below. However, you will have the benefit of using a range of skills
and competencies you have learned from previous jobs.

We are a flexible employer and, as not all tasks are based at the Museum, some working from
home is possible.

The Assistant Caretaker (casual) is essential to ensuring efficient operation of the Kirk which is used as a church and host to many other events. He/she will enhance logistic support in preparation for events such as services, concerts and social occasions. Caretakers are usually employed as part of a team. He/she will work with the full time Caretaker or in his absence will report directly to the Operations Manager/Duty Manager. At evenings/weekends you will be paid for a minimum of 4 hours work. If no public transport available, taxis (Edinburgh area) will be reimbursed after midnight.

The role of Duty Manager is to assist with the management and facilitation of events at Greyfriars Kirk – mainly weekday evenings and weekends. The Kirk employs Duty Managers to oversee or manage Greyfriars Outreach activities when the church is used for events such as rehearsals, concerts, wedding receptions, dances/ceilidhs, visitor opening and recordings. For all activities associated with specific events, the Duty Manager will report to the Operations Manager.

The Duty Manager is the Kirk’s first point of contact for Kirk-related matters concering the event. For third party events the Kirk’s Duty Manager will liaise with the 3rd party’s event manager to ensure that the Kirk’s amenities are provided as agreed in the licencee contract.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Brodick Castle is an idyllic island destination and visitor attraction on the Isle of Arran. As one of the Visitor Services team within the castle, you’ll ensure that all visitors receive an excellent visitor experience and leave feeling inspired by this stunning property and its history. This will be achieved through being welcoming; engaging and knowledgeable; prepared to answer visitors’ questions about objects, stories of the castle and its family and the NTS. This person is frequently in contact with visitors and as such is an ambassador for the Trust, exhibiting consistently excellent customer services while actively promoting the Trust’s aims and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder will also assist the Visitor Services Manager and Visitor Services Supervisor with the busy retail operation inside the castle. This includes:
• Ensuring the highest level of customer care at all times.
• Actively seeking new opportunities for retail development to enhance both the visitor experience at the property and the contribution it makes to the property’s overall income stream.
• Actively participating in the operation of the retail area, including (but not limited to):
o Opening/closing procedures
o Maintenance of a pleasant and safe retail environment
o Stock ordering and control
o Merchandising
o Counter service
o Cash handling/reconciliation
o Reporting of income/statistics
o Administration and banking
o As required, maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the retail area
o Ensure that the retail strategy and budget is managed and delivered
• Embracing all organisational training required to be taken as part of the role.
• Processing admissions and memberships for visitors as required.
• Sharing in the common responsibility of implementing the Trust’s “Health & Safety Policy”, being mindful at all times of the health and safety of self, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

KEY PURPOSE
To clean and maintain areas in Brodick Castle, the Woodland Café, the Red Squirrel Kiosk and Shore Lodge Bunkhouse including the toilets at Brodick Castle, Woodland Café and the Countryside Centre and general cleaning to the staff areas with-in the Castle to include staff toilet, offices, and corridors. The VSA-Cleaner should provide an efficient and effective service through high standards of cleaning and maintenance based on the needs of the properties all year-round including events and functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The VSA-Housekeeping is responsible for a wide variety of duties in connection with the cleanliness and maintenance of the property. These duties involve keeping all visitor services areas as always outlined in the Key Purposes of the role clean and functional and following best practice. Cleaning and maintenance of the site is key to ensuring all visitors have a satisfactory visit.

Specific duties include:

• To ensure that a high level of cleanliness is maintained throughout all areas you are responsible for
• Each VSA will be responsible for an area and will be expected to clean to the frequency and standards set out.
• To use cleaning materials appropriately, as instructed and economically; to inform Line Manager when stocks are low.
• To ensure that tools and equipment are in good working order, reporting any faults to Line Manager.
• General cleaning of surfaces (e.g., windowsills, skirtings/facings, and doors) as well as the cleaning of all sanitaryware.
• Replenishing toilet rolls, hand towels, soap etc. daily to always ensure plentiful supply.
• All VSAs are also required to contribute to major deep cleaning tasks during certain periods of the years.
• Empty and clean bins and remove waste to designated area, including the separation of waste, i.e., recycling, and any other duties which are in line with the Castle’s Green Tourism Award standards.
• Complete change overs in the Shore Lodge Bunkhouse.
• Report to Line Manager any defects seen which are likely to affect public experience and security.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The provision of an interesting and educational day out has been a key feature at Brodick Castle and Country Park for many years. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION
In this role, the post holder will assist with the delivery of the education programme at Brodick Castle, under the direction of the Head Education Guide. This includes:
• Maximise visitor enjoyment and understanding of the property through by presenting the history of Brodick, it’s collection and the people who lived there
• Delivery of a range of high quality talks and tours about Brodick for the general public and organised groups, including all ages and abilities
• Delivery of formal/informal educational activities and workshops to schools
• Be mindful of security needs of the property and its contents, minimising opportunities for theft or damage through diligent monitoring of visitors and the implementation of security measures (e.g. locking up procedures etc.)
• Be aware of the conservation needs of the property and its contents and minimise the risk of accidental damage through engaging with visitors and the implementation of appropriate conservation measures.
• Share in the common responsibility of implementing the Trust’s Health & Safety policy, being mindful at all times of health & safety of self, staff, volunteers, and visitors
• Share in the common responsibility for the safe evacuation/management of colleagues and visitors in the event of a fire or security alert or alarm
• Responsible for daily education operations within the castle, ensuring all opening and closing procedures have been carried out and that all areas are properly supervised and engaging educational talks are occurring.
