Here at National Trust for Scotland’s INVEREWE GARDEN in the idyllic North West Scottish Highlands we are looking for energetic, cheerful, and talkative individuals to join our amazing welcome team this summer. No previous retail or catering experience needed, we would just love to hear from people who can interact and chat with our guests and make them feel welcomed and valued from the minute they arrive until we wish them farewell. This role is vital in providing an amazing welcome in all areas of the property and helping our visitors have a fantastic experience and to create wonderful memories. Based in the Welcome Hub, Retail, or Catering, your role is to make it a great part of their day. You’ll help us maximise sales through excellent customer service and product knowledge, taking a pride in Visitor Services presentation and your own approach to the role. Promoting all that National Trust for Scotland has to offer and encouraging them to be part of it.

March – September

We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join our team at Drumlanrig Castle, one of Dumfries & Galloway’s finest tourist destinations, during the 2022 season.

In this customer facing role you will assist with general maintenance of the playground and garden areas. Maintenance responsibilities will include litter picking, emptying bins and ensuring the playground area is maintained in excellent condition for our visitors. Garden duties will include weeding, watering and strimming as well as helping visitors in our garden centre. Working hours will be 8.30am to 4.30pm on a 4 days on 4 days off basis including weekends.

We are looking for Seasonal Waterway Operatives to join our team along the West District of the Caledonian Canal on contracts running from Spring to Autumn 2022, with roles based in Corpach. 

In our waterway operative roles, customer service is key regardless of whether our visitors travel by boat, bike or boot; so we are looking for confident communicators who enjoy meeting and helping the public. You will advise visiting tourists and boaters about the locality and assist craft through the locks. As well as this, you will take responsibility for the surrounding area including grass cutting, litter picking and some minor DIY and maintenance such as painting and weeding.

Skills and experience required:

Basic DIY skills are advantageous
Customer service experience and strong communication skills
Health and safety awareness
Team working experience
A full driving licence is essential, as well as access to your own transport

This role attracts a living wage salary plus a 10% variable rota allowance, which is pro-rated to the length of the contract. You will work on a rota which includes weekends and bank holidays. It may be a requirement of the role to participate in an out of hours standby rota system.

The position of Assistant Gardener has arisen at Inveraray Castle. You will assist the Head Gardener who is responsible for maintaining the gardens at the Castle which are open to the public 7-months of the year. The successful candidate should be hardworking and conscientious with practical experience and the ability to communicate.

This position is seasonal with the potential to become permanent.

Supervising car and coach parking and assisting with visitor flow management. To provide the highest standard of customer care for individual, disabled and group visitors and assist with the security of the Castle and its exhibits. A smart appearance and personable manner are essential.
MAIN DUTIES:

1. Meeting and greeting group and individual visitors, dealing with enquiries and assisting the castle team in providing a 5 Star visitor experience, working between our ticketing office in the grounds and our entrance hall.
2. Selling and checking tickets and the associated cash handling, credit card processing, etc., using appropriate equipment and technology.
3. Upsell and cross-sell specific products to ensure sales targets are met e.g. guide books and annual passes
4. Reconciliation of cash at end of day and appropriate reporting.
5. Ensuring the security of all cash and payment vouchers at all times.
6. Working closely with castle accounts and administration personnel and complying with directives and requests as appropriate.
7. Maintaining accurate and up to date records at all times including special ticket sales, complimentary tickets and database information, etc
8. Administration as required including help to maintain/photocopy stationery and equipment stocks.
9. Assisting in the delivery of marketing and sales initiatives as directed by the Head Guide and Operations Manager.
10. Assist with maintaining the security and safety of visitors, staff, the Castle and its contents.
11. Assisting and supporting floor guiding staff in maintaining a high level of customer interaction for which an understanding of the Castle and its contents is required.
12. Provide assistance and support to teams within the castle enterprise as required, including guiding, housekeeping, retail and administration.
13. Comply with health & safety directives and organisational policy, including regular fire drills.
14. Comply with organisational policy for green tourism and recycling policies.
15. Attend team meetings and training sessions as required including after hours sessions – reasonable notice is given and staff are paid for their time.

Seasonal Museum Attendant  (Fixed Term)

Hours per week: From 10.50 – up to 33

Museum Attendants are responsible for safeguarding museum exhibitions and buildings and for keeping facilities clean and tidy.  Working front of house, they ensure that museum visitors enjoy their visit by providing a high quality of customer service.  This involves answering queries, giving presentations and visitor information and the sale of goods and tickets.

You should be a reliable, trustworthy, conscientious and enthusiastic person with good general education and experience of cleaning and keeping public facilities in good order.  A high level of communication and customer care skills are essential as are experience of working in visitor services and with security systems.  Basic computer skills and a current driving licence are desirable.
